Nice Compilation Video of the R8 Testing in the US

The spies at Brenda Priddy & Co have put together a new video of the 2008 Audi R8 in testing in the United States. The car is expected to be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in late September. These shots show the car with only mild camouflage along the side skits and front and rear facias, on the headlights, behind the doors, and between the taillights. The R8 is expected to be priced against the Aston Martin Vantage and BMW M6. In the video, hosted by StreetFire, viewers get a good idea of how the finished car will look on the road, plus a nice sampling of the engine's sound.

damn that freaking car looks tight..im just amazed at what AUDI is about to unleash.the design and body of the whole car just looks great, they gave it a gallardo look to it...hmmm 100grand area ey? thats really a good price for a car that seems to be worth more than that.

No. Actually most of the time the space is empty. I just enjoyed the feeling of a large sedan. Now I'm ready to change it up a bit. So far my short list includes the Merc CL or CLS, the Quattroporte the S8 and R8. I'm also interested to see the new 2 door GT from Maserati and the A7. I think either of those would make the decision that much more difficult but I'm not sure if they'll be out in time.

That is definately the RS4 V8 in there. Nice video. That sounds awesome. Interesting to see it with the Tahoe Hybrid. It will also have a very good interior.

BMW-guy perspective...
Looks cool, but at the end of the day, how many people buy one? I don't think it gets cross-shopped by the typical buyer of a Carerra, Ferrari, or Maserati?

I'd think the potential market will be pretty small - perhaps the person who's looking to trade up from their innocuous and discontinued Acura NSX?

I hope it does well as a halo vehicle, but I'm not optimistic.

The only other cars in this catagory with AWD that I'm aware of are the 911 4S and the Lambo. I think the R8 is going to be a compelling alternative.

nybimmer; production is slated to be at less than 800 a month of the States. Demand will be high.
My dealer already has 8 sold.
As long as production stays low, it will do just fine!

Could you mean 800 per year?

I can't find 001's Audi monthly sales stats (thanks for providing those 001) but I dont' think that 800 A8's are sold in the US in an average month.

nybimmer: I was mainly refering to the production # for the upcoming R8.
Audi sales betweent 400 and 500 A8 in the states a month.
That's not much but keep in mind as well that this car is EXTREMELY popular in Europe and we can't get as many as we would like.
