VIDEO: Did The Shelby Ford Mustang GT500 Lap The 'Ring Under 7:40?
I don't want this to sound like we're playing Clue or anything here, but a new mystery has emerged. No, it wasn't Colonel Mustard in the Library with the Candlestick.

It may be the GT500 on the world famous Nürburgring setting a lap time under 7:40 though.

Over the weekend we were happy to share with you the overlay a YouTube user put together of the all-new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 versus the Camaro ZL1. Both are obviously impressive autos as they put down VERY respectable times on The Green Hell by the automaker. On top of that they were verified.

Ford, on the other hand, hasn't put out anything official regarding the monstrously powerful GT500. This is where things get interesting. The folks over at SVTPerformance.com put in a request and received a never-before-seen clip of the GT500 lapping the Ring.

It finished under the 7:40 mark. Of course, it wasn't verified or considered "official" though.

So, what do YOU make of this?

SVTPerformance.com obtained exclusive footage of 2013-14 Ford Mustang SVT Shelby GT500 running a full test lab at The Nürburgring.

Could be, but I do not buy it. The video seems sped up, the car has obvious understeer and the driver is nowhere near smooth enough to pull off that time.

My unbiased opinion is that this driver did a 7:39 in a GT500.

It's actually funny how the question was presented...as if the GT500 drove itself around the track.

Just proves the live axle is NOT a detriment.

Have you been taking crazy pills? No where in that video was a cutaway to rear axle of that vehicle driving around the ring.
