DRIVEN + VIDEO: Aston Martin's Flagship Loses Its Top — Is It For BETTER or WORSE?
As a bias Aston Martin lover, I have to say that it excites me to see that the all-new Vanquish has been offered as a Volante in relatively short order.

Any vehicle with a V12 tends to get an enthusiastic thumbs up from me and that's not because they're gas guzzlers, but rather that amazing sound they produce. And while the Vanquish sounded absolutely stellar when I was piloting the coupe, I can't even imagine how lovely it is to blast around with that wailing 12-cylinder powerplant, top down.

Whlie that's great and all there's just one thing: convertibles tend to suck compared to their coupe counterparts. That's just a sad fact about cars with no roofs. And though Astons are awesome, folks I know that have driven the convertibles have noted they can flex and shutter in all the wrong ways.

So, it'll be interesting to see how Autocar's reviewer finds the all-new Vanquish Volante as he had a chance to get behind the wheel and give it the beans.

Watch below for the reviewer's impression.

The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is a V12-engined convertible GT car. With a claimed 0-62mph time of 4.1sec and a top speed of 183mph, stunning looks and a nigh-on £200k price tag, it looks set to satisfy those seeking the most extravagant Aston Martin.

Will more discerning buyers be convinced by the Vanquish Volante, however, or will they find it lacking in key areas? Autocar's Mark Tisshaw investigates.

Aston Martin has a niche in the automotive market. Most of it's products fall into the luxury sport GT class. It's not a Porsche in driving dynamics but does not pretend to be. It can offer sports car thrills while being very comfortable on a long cruise. Its also incredibly beautiful. In my opinion it's far prettier than any BentleyContinental GT while offering almost the same level of luxury. It does reasonably well on windy roads but is really not meant for a race track.
