Toyota FCV Concept Might The Future But Does It Take Ugliness To The Next Level?

With the battery-powered BMW i3 and fiery pictures of the Tesla Motors Model S grabbing the headlines about new technology and cars, Toyota of Japan reminds us that there is an alternative, revolutionary way to replace the internal combustion engine out there called the fuel cell.

Unveiled ahead of the Tokyo car show on November 20, Toyota said its FCV Concept fuel cell car looks like a regular, four-seat sedan and will take the passengers at least 300 miles on a tank of hydrogen.

Before you say “game-over,” because battery-only powered cars have short and unpredictable ranges, it has to be said that the FCV is still at the experimental stage, and although Toyota hasn’t revealed any cost details, you can safely assume it will lose huge amounts of money on every one it sells for a while yet. This will be mitigated by big but unspecified help from the Japanese government.

I personally think the car shown here is better and more unique than any other Hyundai or Kia or Chevy out there.

Are those 8" rims or something? What is with these cars and their tiny wheels.

OMG how UGLY can UGLY get??? Toyota does one thing for sure the best, it keeps coming out with the ugliest or most boring concept or production cars in the universe and polluting the universe with them :( I think that outrageous dumb looking grill is for catching people's barf when they see it. Thanks Toyota for making the world an uglier place to live :(

Toyota has been experimenting with RAV4 FCVs for almost a decade now. One still cannot drive one.

Let's ask Honda to see how their 7 year old FCX Clarity is doing in CA.

Not so well you say? Gee wonder why...

It is a distraction, it is Toyota's excuse why they do not want to make battery EVs.
