The upcoming (unofficial) Audi RS6 to be faster than M5 and E63 AMG?

We don't have any official word about the upcoming Audi RS6 from Audi. We do remember that the past RS6 was a straight-line monster (a bit slower than the E55 but faster than the M5).

The RS6 did not handle well at all due to its AWD and turbos.

The same characteristics appy to the previous European-only RS4.

If we take a look at the current RS4, we see that it is a MUCH improved car over the previous one and it is believed by some to be the new benchmark in class for performance (it's numbers don't lie and acceleration wise it is the benchmark) Let's not get into the RS4 vs. M3 nosense again though....

So if Audi follows tradition the way they did with the previous RS4 compared to the current one the upcoming RS6 should be a car without turbos and it should deliver mighty straight-line performance as well as some brilliant handling that would allow it to defeat the M5 around a track such as the Nurburgring.

Also PLEASE do not say that the RS6 is a car for those who can't afford the BMW M5 or Mercedes E63 because the previous RS6 was MORE expensive than both the M5 and E55.

Logical this goes for you: The $66K Audi RS4 is obviously for those who can't afford the $55K BMW M3 even though the RS4 is MORE expensive.

Amazing use of logic on that post.....

haha, good one. Logical will be sitting in a corner crying when that beast comes out.

Can't wait for it. My local Audi dealer is already saying they can start making a list for the RS6's. That has to be good enough reason to believe, it's closer than we think.

Yes Will. There are two rumored V10 engines. More likely a 5.5 liter enlarged version of the 5.2 liter V10 with at least 550 hp and maybe up to 575(that is on the high side) The other rumored engine is the 5.2 liter V10 with twin turbos and 550+ hp (this engine would achieve higher power with ease) When it comes out expect a 550+ hp V10.

BMWexpert - Audi designed the V10 engine used in the Lambo. Who cars if the engine is only used in BMW and not in some car like a Farrari? What a dumb arguement. Do you think I am embarrised that this car shares components from Audi's own company Lambo?

What is your point? A 550 to 600 hp RS6 is going to be one hot car. The RS line is always the king of class but and the same time it is always a low production model. People that want mass produced cars will buy the BMW and MB

efoxS4 - if they were overpriced then why did we sell almost every model for about 10k over sticker?

The old RS6 came out in december 2003 to feb 2004 as a 2003 model. The early production cars 1000 sold out so Audi came out with amother 300 cars to meet the demand. The only issue is that the last 300 came out so late that the high price for the now OLD body and last year was not there. Same thing happend with the Porsche GT.

The M% is a great car but the RS6 will be at least at that leval. Don't worry if you like the BMW it will still be a nice car even if the Audi rocks

You are right. Everything about the RS6 is just speculation right now (the engine data that I provided seems reasonable). There might not even be an RS6 or it might come out later than we expect as the R8 will be built in the same faiclity.

of course it will be faster than the m5!!! that's a great car but was only made to compete with the s6. an m5csl would compete with an rs6 and probably be faster.

otherwise, the rs6 will be a visually boring and bland car like the a6 and rs4. it is like the e63amg and i quote "discrete to the point of not really trying".

the m5 has performance, presence but is also a bit discrete-perfect combination for a german super-saloon.

I've never been a fan of Audi's S or RS until the current RS4 came out. Now as for the pricing, i'd rather go with the more well-established BMW or Merc. Not saying that Audi is any less of a car but i'd just go with what i'm familiar with.

M5, E55, S6/RS6 no matter how much they are competitors, they are lightning fast cars with great attributes respectively. Anyone would die for one to be sitting in their garage. German's = great builds no matter how much internal horsepower warfare is going on.

I would prefer the E63 over the RS6 but if it comes down to new generation I would get the RS6 because the E-class is due for redesign sooner.

The M5 is a beast, no denying it, however in styling, well I have to say that I'm a little disapointed.
Take off the wheels and the openings on the fender and it looks likes a 550i.
The RS6 will have the Wider fender flares that will definitely make it more distinctive than the A6.
I know of quite a few of the previous generation M5 who would not trade for the new one. Personally I think the previous M5 is more aggressive looking than the new one.
The M5 is an awesome machine, but my god is that interior cheap looking!!!
Our dealership got 3 on trade within the past 5 months.
One got a F430, another a 911 C4S, and the last one a new Turbo. All of them hated the SMG. These guys had the old M5 or a Ferrari.
One of them found oil all over his floor one morning.

BMWexpert: Correction....The Maintenance program is still available for only $550. Give it some time and BMW will also discontinue theirs as well.
It seems that the latest BMW ad on T.V only talk about Free maintenance...it's a shame...talk about the car and how well it drives.
Free Maintenance does not sell a car. People car more about cup holders than Free maintenance.
Free Maintenance is only available in the States. Go in Europe and see how many Audis are over there.
"S" models and "RS" are ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!

Great example of pure LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ON THAT ONE YET AGAIN!

Logical I simply don't understand why you make yourself look like an absolute moron when you say Audis are for those who can't afford a BMW.

Of course the $87K Audi RS6 is for those who can't afford the $75K BMW M5

The $66K Audi RS4 is for those who can't afford the $55K BMW M3

Oh yeah and the $118,900 Audi A8L W12 is for those who can't afford the $119,300 BMW 760Li.

Honestly stop saying its for people who can't afford a BMW or a Benz because they obviously CAN if they pay MORE for the Audi than they would for the BMW or Benz.

Logical you can call an Audi whatever you want. I can call BMW an airhead yuppy mobile and a Benz a car for the AARP but what you CAN'T say is that Audi's are cheaper because the facts show they are NOT.

The lease payments on an A8L 4.2 are MORE than the lease payments on an equivalently priced BMW 750Li.

You can use other arguements but saying Audi customers can't afford a BMW or a Benz obviously isn't a valid one as I've told about a zillion times already.

I was just making a personal comment on a design of a car and you did not like it and started calling me a A-hole.
I'm really surprised people are buying cars from you. That arrogance can be a huge turn off.
I'm pretty sure you tell people when looking also at Audi that they are pieces of crap don't you?

The M5 does have a little wider fender flares but still looks too much like the 5 series.
Just like I wish the S4 was more distinctive from the A4.
The RS4 is definitely more distinctive.
I'm around Porsches all day long and let me tell you that the interior is far from being plain.
You can have a plain interior but when you get full leather or painted center console, the Porsche may offer the most unique interior you can get.
If you want Aluminum or Carbon fiber they will put it in.
The 997 interior is of very high quality.

bmwexpert, firstly, having a car with more buttons than hp isn't very good.
secondly, edc isn't exactly "modern".
the 750 we had 15 years ago had it.
thirdly, smg sucks. it's jerky, and can't change smoothly.
fourthly, being able to switch from 507 to 400 hp isn't that great, the corvette lr-1 had that. (valet mode)
fouthly, i quote"I honestly will never buy a porcshe its to plani inside for the money to bumpy and the M6 is roomer 4 seater faster smoother or can can swithch it to sport suspension with the EDC button and swithch it from 400 hp to 500hp sport 7 speed with my heads up display paddle shifters and i have the option for a convertible. Know the M5 can be used for luxury then swithced to a monster with 500hp sport suspension from comfort and four door with 4 women in the car bitchhhhh......"
yes, quite, bitchhhhh.

use punctuation.
fifthly, learn how to spell porsche
sixthly, a 911 is less than an m6 and m5.
seventhly, smg sucks
eightly, smg sucks.
ninthly, dsg is a lot better than smg.

i quote from a review of an m3 smg mk2
"Gone were the smooth, flowing transistions between gears, which I had been practicing for the last 17 years. In their place instead were these awful, awkward lurches when shifting, the kind that make your forehead bang the dashboard during gear changes. And although I was the driver in the driver's seat, I might as well have been the passenger riding with a crudely skilled driver; my head and neck utterly unable to anticipate when the shift would be complete, ostensibly because they did not know"
oh dear.
at full throttle, yes smg is quick, but and low or even half throttle, it is very bad.
the m5 is still a great car though, but defending it against a car that isn't out yet is a bit stupid, as is defending it by saying it has lots of buttons.
and paddle shifters are now available on a tiny-weeny citroen c2, so it isn't that great.

BMWexpert...right now, you're currently taking out of your a**. I hate it when people start putting a pure breed sports car into a midst of sport sedans. Let me tell you this after having experience myself. Apart from owning a Mini Cooper S, i also own a 2007 Carrera "S". Now, before i decided on this car, many people told me how the new M6 and M5 is compared to the 2007 Carrera S. I didn't believe it and after trying them both on tracks, might i add, i still didn't believe it and i will never. Why? Well, apart from the technical BS, they're in different classes, ones a "sports car" and the others a "sports sedan". Now, take this down as a note, the people who told me that these 2 cars competes with the Porsche, are not at all car enthusiasts...and on another note, when i walked into BMW Laval, i asked the question and asked if it were true, they looked at me, sat me down and explained what the difference is. Theirs a big difference. Don't compare, don't even mention about Porsche, and the ones who do, are only good at criticizing. Also, if you have to look at footages of racing, look at the pros, not these kids...kids like them, and yourself can easily make mistakes because your heads are so far up your a**' with your daddy's cars. Anyway, thats my rant, so leave Porche out of this topic. You talk about it, you don't know any better.

Oh and if you have to compare don't compare an older version of a car to a newer version of another, in your case a 2003-04 Porsche Turbo with an 06-07 M6...also! i ****en hope with a v10 engine with 510hp (or whatever it is) can walk over a v6 turbo with 415hp...well atleast a little bit, technically speaking it should make sense...so stop gloating.

And about Audi's costing less than BMW's--that was true five years ago, but now Audi's lease rates often exceed BMW's. Try coming up with a better less used retort, because that one isn't working.

And even if Audi's did cost less--atleast they look like luxury cars. Sit inside a 7-series, then go look at an A8. The 7-series looks like something out of one of those bootleg China sweat shops compared to the beauty and quality of an A8. And don't talk to me about handling...you don't buy a sedan of this caliber for handling.

bmwexpert,

smg, in NORMAL driving, is considerably jerkier than a conventional automatic.
on a racetrack, smg is better than a conventional automatic.
however, dsg is smoother and a quicker change.

the point of the quote i provided was that smg is hard to predict what's going to happen, as you yourself are not directly controling the change, so you cannot "brace" yourself for the changes in speed. a manual you can, so you are prepared, so smg seems jerkier.

you explanation for a smooth change explains why many people are put off by smg, it requires too much effort.
people buy automatics because they can't be bothered to change gear anymore, and having to look at the rev counter, pick your moment etc is too much of a hassle.
the thing is, in the m6 and m5, there isn't a normal auto, so if they are being driven round town, smg and a manual are both a pain to drive. a 911 has a regular auto, and that is one of the reasons why it sells so well as the meno-porsche.
bmws twin-cluth will sort that out though, i'm sure it will be great.
m5 and m6 are great cars, no doubt. if i were in the market an m6 convertible would take my vote immediately, partly because that v-10 is a screamer, and partly because where i live, i see more 911s than fords. (i did decide to live 100 yards from a major porsche garage though)
of course i may find i want the rs6 more, but since that isn't out yet, i can't choose it.
m5 over an e63 though for sure.

BMWExpert: the new Turbo does start at $122,900.
However there is no Gas Guzzler tax on that car.
The 911 is much lighter than the M6 which is pretty heavy for a BMW.
The M6 is very fast, but when our clients look for something sporty that they can take to the track, the M6 is not even mentioned.
When people look at the Turbo, they can buy the M6 believe me.
We also get many Beemers and M series on trade for Porsches. It goes both ways.
The new Turbo is bigger than the old one and very comfortable and VERY LUXURIOUS. I compared a Turbo to a M6 side by side. The Turbo has better quality mainly because it had all leather dashboard.
The new Turbo will smoke the M6.
M6 0-60 in 4.4 sec..
Turbo: 0-60 in 3.7 sec.
It has monster Torque on it; just think when an X50 package will come on that car!
You need to drive the new Turbo before bashing it.
It is a step above the old one that was already quite incredible and soon it will even receive DSG.
When it comes to true sports car, leave it to Porsche.
