Technology Overload? 2015 NSX To Have Three Electric Motors And Twin Turbo V6
Confirming months of speculation, Honda officially unveiled the 2015 Acura NSX's V6, armed with a pair of turbochargers.

Acura wouldn't confirm any details or specs on the car other than that the engine will be unique to the NSX and not simply an Accord motor in a pretty package. Just from looking, however, we can tell this V6 is just under 90 degrees and features dry-sump lubrication and direct injection. Assuming a displacement of 3.7 liters, combined with the car's three electric motors, 550 horsepower sounds reasonable, if not conservative.

But the big news here is how the engine is positioned within the car. Unlike the original NSX, the new production model will have its engine mounted longitudinally and not transversely.

Not sure why it needs the third E motor...

I'm so tired of this car, how long does it take to develop a good sports car Honda, oh right, you are morbidly lost when it comes to anything but a Accord

I wonder what the curb weight is going to be on this car.

Reading from a quote an insider said, the weight goal was 2200lbs. Which has to be a misprint...

More like 3200lbs, which still would be pretty good considering all the tech it has....

If it isn't a misprint, then wow, Ferrari watch out!

Looks like a typo...new info states that the weight goal is 1400kg (3080lbs) - that's pretty good for a modern supercar!

Aside from parts count, turbo and hybrid make sense together. Electric has the low end torque; turbo has the high rpm horsepower/weight. And presumably clever software to wrap it all together with a flat torque curve.

The NSX will be a self-congratulatory design like the Porsche 918 in that they will pretend to engineer something that a handful of people will own. The NSX should have aimed at the Nissan 370Z Nismo and the Stingray instead of being a wannabe hypercar
