LA AUTO SHOW: BMW's Concept X4 Is A Stunner Combining Good Looks And Class Leading Performance
BMW is once again breaking new ground with the creation of an all-new vehicle segment. The BMW Concept X4 opens a window into the future expansion of the BMW X family.

The concept car combines the rugged looks of a BMW X model with the emotional and sporting aura of one of the brand’s coupes – and, in so doing, brings the Sports Activity Coupe concept so successfully coined by the BMW X6 to another new class. The BMW Concept X4 takes to the stage sporting a product character all its own.

As such it follows in the tyre tracks of the BMW X5, BMW X3, BMW X1 and BMW X6, which likewise adopted the role of trailblazer in their respective segments and continue to set their class standard toda

Looks like the useless and over-priced X6.

Unfortunately the over-priced X6 as you so nicely put it has been very good for BMW. So good that Audi & Mercedes both are developing a competitor to the vehicle.

I think this looks great. Can't wait to see it in person.

@Investor27: Pay no mind to BMW4me because the X6 has been a DUD in terms of overall sales. This is an UGLY vehicle and Audi or Benz doesn't have this "Honda Crosstour" look alike in their sites. The A7,S7 and RS7 are BEAUTIFUL cars and that slope on the back is the closest it will get. As I commented in another post, BMW (which I've owned two 3ers and two 5ers) is trying to pander to Cadillac drivers, Buick drivers, Lexus drivers, Sports Car Drivers, Soccer Moms, Subaru Drivers. That's why I left for now. Stick with what you do best BMW. Build high performance, great handling super cars and if the Cadillac/Lexus owners don't like how they drive, then don't buy them. But don't build crap like this when the X6 when over like lead balloons.

Pay no mind to gkearns56, he seems to be choking on the Audi Kool-Aid....

BMW so far has sold around 230,000 X6's. How exactly does that qualify as a Dud?

The audi cheerleaders are too funny, the fact is the X6 which is similarly priced to the A7 has out sold it every year globally...so that must make the A7 a DUD?

X6
2011- 40,822
2012- 43,689

A7
2011- 37,301
2012- 28,950

Looks cool (and despite the naysayers above the X6 makes BMW a fortune -- it sells well globally and cost them essentially nothing to create, the same being true for the X4). But I want to see the actual production version. And they're gonna have their work cut out for them with the Macan coming. That is looking like a pretty great little SUV.

While BMW may have sold 230,000 X6s globally, bringing the X4 to the U.S. market would be a bad move. The U.S. market has proven that it is not receptive to the 5-series GT or the X6. The X4 is a mini version of the X6 with the same loud styling.

Unless BMW manufactures the X4 in the U.S., it will be a burden on cost to import the X4 to the U.S. market, which has proven it does not want such a vehicle.

Hey 94ego: How come your figures of cars sold and the 230K numbers don't match up. Yours must be US sales only. BTW: When you compare the A7, S7 to an x6, your comparing apples to bananas. Of course the X6 is the (ugly) banana.

@IrishMike: Now I think you have the most "Acura(te)" post. They called and want their ZDX back.

BMW stick to what you WERE doing best; building performance and top handling cars. Until you go back to your roots, I'll continue to buy different German makes.

I posted 2011 & 12 Global numbers....the X6 has been in production since 2008. 2008 to 2012 equals 230K. These apples, and bananas are similarly priced. The X6 has out sold the hunchbacked A7 every year, globally.

gkearns56, When who compares the A7 to the X6? You were the one that bought the Audi in to the discussion?

This car class is still pointless. Get a sports car if you want sport, get an SUV if you want an SUV. This car does neither.
