LA AUTO SHOW: Jaguar Debuts The Latest Leaping Cat — Best REAL-LIFE Photos Of The F-Type Coupe

I've been waiting for the Jaguar F-Type Coupe since I had the chance to drive the 2014 F-Type Roadster. That's because the drop top is a ton of fun.

Though after I got out, I imagined how much BETTER a closed version with a performance-oriented focus could be. It looks like Jaguar delivered just that with the F-Type Coupe R.

Equipped with a V8 good for 550 horsepower, it seems that this might just be the right option for Porsche 911 owners looking for a new design and a bit of panache. Don't get me wrong, 911s are arguably the best sports car out there today but I could imagine getting tired of it in short order.

And when you hear the F-Type's "21 gun salute" on the over run, you may be swayed by the Brit's quirks.

Looks like one of the original Datsun/Nissan 240z, which is fitting since Nissan copied the styling of the 240 from the Jaguar.

What a nice looking car. Be real interesting to see how the fixed roof with 550hp stacks up against the 991 and C7 in handling.

I'd wager the Jag will be more fun than both BUT not as precise.
