LA AUTO SHOW: Is Volkswagen's CrossBlue Coupe Concept Actually A Macan-Based VW Product In The Pipeline?
You don't have to look too far to notice that there are some striking similarities between the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. Especially the first-generation vehicles.

At the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, I think I may be onto something.

In the past 12 months, Volkswagen has been eager to show off a couple of sport-utility vehicle concepts. While we've seen the CrossBlue Concept, which looked like a next-gen Audi Q7, we're now getting a taste of the CrossBlue Coupe Concept. And, the more I look at it, the more Porsche Macan I am beginning to see.

Sure, the Porsche is more rounded off an sensuous, but that's every Porsche design. If you compare the proportions of the CrossBlue Coupe to the Macan, they're essentially dead on. Of course since I didn't make it to Los Angeels this year I can't tell you if the scale is accurate.

This makes me wonder if this smaller SUV will replace the very old Tiguan and push the Touareg — if VWAG continues to build it — more upmarket.

All that said, I am a bit curious: Is Volkswagen's CrossBlue Coupe Concept a Macan-based VW?

thought vw was using the mqb platforms on their cars & trucks from here on out, allowing for lower priced vehicles, amongst other things??

If the CrossBlue is a Macan it will be as much of a scorching disaster as the Toaureaueg (sic). The Toerag is absurdly overweight and tiny on the inside despite its overall physical size. Couple with the fact that the price tag is $20K too high for a VW and that explains why sales are unmentionably bad. The CrossBlue needs to be an AWD Passat crossover priced like a Ford Edge or Explorer.

If they build this and keep the price no higher than the Tiguan now, then this will replace my Tig. Especially of it comes in diesel.

Other than that, I may need to look outside VW for my next car. The Touraeg is too bulky for me, and I've gotten spoiled with the seating height of my Tiguan, so moving back to a sedan is not in my plans.

This is the thinly veiled version of the next generation Touareg

@MorePower Next Touareg? You mean they are continuing the sales disaster?? Oh wait!! This is VW. That means they produce product based solely on the maniacal whims of Piech. Nevermind.
