NHTSA Begins Mandatory Roadblocks To Gather DNA And Blood Samples From Motorists
Some drivers along a busy Fort Worth street on Friday were stopped at a police roadblock and directed into a parking lot, where they were asked by federal contractors for samples of their breath, saliva and even blood.

It was part of a government research study aimed at determining the number of drunken or drug-impaired drivers.

"It just doesn't seem right that you can be forced off the road when you're not doing anything wrong," said Kim Cope, who said she was on her lunch break when she was forced to pull over at the roadblock on Beach Street in North Fort Worth.

Other reports indicate that the test are voluntary but stopping at them are mandatory.

They run your plates and drivers license before they let you go.

Sounds good to me, just combine this with "stop & frisk".

Sounds like a violation of the fourth amendment. Ironic, a perfect exmaple of the unofficial fourth branch of government (federal agencies) that are poorly overseen and supervised by congress, violating the fourth amendment. They are preying on people who don't know enough to protest or are too afraid.

This is what we're coming to in this country...

Why is our government spending $8million on this? What do they expect to do with the results? Publish the percentage of people that were found to be under the influence? Then what? Were they arrested even if they did not indicate a driving impairment? There is PLENTY more where this money can be spent.

Pure intimidation and abuse of power on unsuspecting/uninformed populace. Its no longer a slippery slope that society is heading down..
its in free fall. We are in a period that anything goes if it serves goverbment's needs or whims. When political ends justify the means and determines selected prosecution our freedom is threatened beyond reasonable hope and defense. A house divided will not stand...sad for those who remember what once was. Not perfect by any means but not as corrupt nor as political self serving.

Another crazy CONTRACTOR gone wild—utilizing off-duty police officers, which may be in a lot of trouble before this is all over and done.

The law suit on this will be MASSIVE and I hope the accompanying civil suit asks for billions in punitive damages.

Someone needs to hire a lawyer and sue the crap out of everyone involved. If the ACLU isn't involved in this, they need to be. I would refuse this in a heartbeat if asked.
