McLaren P1 Joins Porsche 918 With Sub Seven Minute Nürburgring Run
The McLaren P1 has acheived its target of a sub-seven-minute lap around the Nürburgring, according to its makers.

The manufacturer has confirmed the hypercar completed its 12.9-mile lap at an average speed of more than 111mph. Theoretically, an exact 111mph average speed over 12.9 miles would take about 6min 59.17sec.

The 12.9 miles is not what Porsche used to calculate it's lap time. Porshe themselves stated they completed the 20600 m track in 6:57. If you take the same length porsche used to calculate the formula would be

Nordschleife = 20600 m

Lap time: 20600/49.62 = 415.16 s = less than 6 min 55.2 sec

I'm thinking Mclaren released the little bit of info they did so everyone can stop wondering if they beat porsche's time. Nothing to take away from porsche but I would bet if Mclaren has lapped the ring a couple seconds faster than the 918. Less weight more downforce and more HP.
