VIDEO: Ice + Snow Causing MAJOR Pile Ups Across The Country, Looks Like The Ice Capades Out There
Across the country, the past couple of days have been hell. Well, assuming hell froze over.

That's because a winter storm named Dion has been creating havoc on major roadways spanning from Wisconsin to as far as Texas. And, as you'd expect, folks just don't know how to handle themselves in these incredibly dangerous situations.

In Wisconsin there was said to be approximately 200 or so vehicles involved in area pile ups. In Pennsylvania there was a 50-car pile up that resulted in the death of one individual that exited their vehicle.

Our condolences to the family and friends of that unfortunate person.

Remember, Spies:

- Start slow, stop slow
- If involved in an accident, remain in your vehicle if you cannot position yourself in a safe area
- Make sure you're NOT driving on summer tires — equip your vehicle with all-season tires or, even better, snow tires

Be safe out there, Spies!

Dept. of Transportation camera capture the 5 minutes it took for a pileup on Highway 41/45 to occur and to shut down the highway Sunday.

A 50-car pile-up in Pennsylvania today left one driver dead and dozens of motorists stranded on the state turnpike for hours in the middle of a major snowstorm.

State police said late this afternoon that the 50 cars that were involved in the accidents had been pulled over to the shoulder and they estimated plow and salt trucks would be able to clear the area by evening.

According to ABC station WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, the motorist who died in the collisions was killed when he got out of the car and hit by another car.

I just put my snow tires on yesterday - a few people i mentioned it too didn't know they existed anymore. The false notion of all-seasons being good in snow is a common misconception.

@Commander

I swapped my tires on my vehicle yesterday too in anticipation of the snow the New York Tri-State region received.

I've always been more than fine using all-seasons in the winter weather. All comes down to driving cautiously and knowing what to do if the car slips on you.

Do snows help a bit more? Yes. But it still won't do anything for you in the ice.

Just my two cents.

He probably means winter tires, which help a ton on ice.

Said it a million times before.

Ban Cruise Control and people will concentrate a lot more on the roads
