SPIED: Jaguar Goes To Work On Its All-New XF. On Deck, The XJ — What Does Jag HAVE To Do To Get YOUR Attention?
If I were to name one automaker that's led an incredible turnaround and is, frankly, one of the more exciting product companies to watch, I'd have to name Jaguar Land Rover. JLR has just been knocking products out of the park, left and right.

THINK: Since the launch of the all-new XJ, what all-new product hasn't gone well for JLR?

But, the XF has aged a bit and with cars like the competitive Audi A6, Lexus GS, Cadillac CTS and revamped BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, it's time for it to get in front of the pack again.

That said, what do YOU think Jaguar will need to do to get YOUR attention and help differentiate the XF from the rest of its competitors? We know that the Spies here do pick up midsize luxury sedans quite a bit, so, your opinion does matter.

The next-generation Jaguar XF and XJ saloons are already under development, the brand's design boss has revealed.

Design director Ian Callum says work on the next-generation XF and XJ saloons is well under way, telling Autocar: “I’m designing the next XF and thinking about the next XJ".

Make it less chunky looking...go sleek, svelte, clean lines, sexy, suave, urbane and curvacious. More glass area less body side height. Jag has opportunities based on beautiful design heritage to make a beautiful car line versus following the pack (MB, BMW and Audi)that
make Germanic hard edged efficient non-eye pleasing forms.

Firing Callum would be the first step. If the XF looked like the C-XF and not a Camryized version, its fortunes may have been different. Jaguar needs to be the "Hyundai" of the premium crowd with value pricing, a massive warranty, and unfailingly reliable. The XJ needs to ditch the Merkur Scorpio look. The fact that the Hyundai Equus sells almost as well as the XJ is damning to Jaguar. The Bertone B99 is what the XJ should have looked like and NOT like a giant hatchback with tacky pieces of plastic glued to the D pillar. The F Type is an easy $20K overpriced. Jaguar desperately needs product in the 30-50K range where the Germans do significant sales.

As for the next XK, it's time to return to the classic perfection of the E type and give consumers something that looks like a Jaguar for once.
