The sales improvement is misleading. VW is losing pace in the USA where they have invested heavily, seen a surge, and now the momentum is subsiding because of lack of APPROPRIATE product. The Golf is NOT what VW needs. They need the Polo, Amarok, Up, and (Skoda) Yeti, and a crossover that targets the Edge/Escape duo.

It looks like most of the loss in sales is happening with the Passat, which seems to have cannibalized CC sales as well. Jetta, Tiguan, and Beetle sales are still good. Need Polo, Up!, and new Jetta wagon in the USA ASAP.

Tiguan sales are NOT good. Its competition (CRV/RAV4) sell about 8 times faster. The Beetle is a small volume niche player. The CC just needs to stay in Europe. VW still staunchly refuses to see the American market and target specifically. The Tiguan and the Toeureauerag are two products that are dead wrong for the American market and the CrossBlue which was needed a decade ago is still in the planning stages.
