Toyota Teases New Concept - Is This The New Supra?
Following in Mercedes’ footsteps, Toyota has teased what appears to be another concept commissioned for Gran Turismo 6. Appearing on French website AutoPlus, the concept’s profile could well be described as a modern-day Supra and that is something to get very excited about.

Just this week, we reported on a rumor that Toyota was planning on bringing a Supra concept to the Detroit Motor Show. So will this teaser turn out to be something purely for the game, or are we looking at the profile of the Supra successor?

Very cartoonish at first sight, but TOYOTA has been pretty interested in surface manipulation of body panel these days, so I won't be surprised it might just comes out very close to this.

Stop bringing up this car! Toyota will release the Supra when there is a market for one.

I can not believe all the buzz for this car that 99% of you have never ridden in, let alone driven one. It was a good car at the time that had a reputation that grew because of the fact that it was over priced and had words of praise thrown on the car by car magazines.

For Toyota to bring back the Supra, it would need to be:

-Less expensive than a BMW M4/M3
-Have a more focused driving experience; i.e. not "soft"
-Be able to beat, or at-least match its competitors; GT-R, Corvette, 911
-Still be profitable for Toyota to manufacture
-Still fall inline with Toyota's image; hybrid, reliable, "affordable"
-Be more than a factory-tuned FT86
-Aspire to be better than its predecessor in every way

That's a lot of ignorance for one post! You should pace yourself before being that ignorant.

How was that post ignorant? It would be ignorant to use a word you did not understand!

MorePower, most of your points are valid except one - Supra was meant to rival GT-R, which is positioned well above M3, Corvetter, or 911(other than turbo).

@ dlin

When was the Supra ever a competitor to the GT-R or Skyline?

The Supra was a competitor to the Fairlady Z/300ZX.

I'm wondering if it's competitors will be determined by the technology it has and the what price range the car is in. Will it be priced to compete with the 370z/Mustang? Maybe but I suspect that that Toyota will price it closer to Corvette/Cayman territory. If they price it above that, It better be really good. Tough competition up there with 911s, M3s, GTRs & exotics above.
In my opinion, Toyota would be wise to leave off some of the tech and price it with the 370z/Mustang where you have so many more potential buyers and the chances are much better to sell a ton of them and recoup the investment. They already built a halo car, the Lexus LFA, and they lost a boat load of money on each one they sold and it's questionable whether they gained very much as a result of that project.
