LEAKED! MORE New Shots Of The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class' INTERIOR, FIRST Shots Of Its Head-Up Display
Well, it wouldn't be a proper leak if we didn't also get more interior shots now, would it?
Have no fear because that's exactly what we've got below.
After seeing the studio shots directly from Mercedes-Benz, it's clear that this interior brings a whole new level of quality to this class. Sure, Audi's A4 has a nice interior but I reckon it's no where as nice as this. And, BMW? It's even further behind the Audi, in my humble opinion.
As you can see there's quite a bit of leather, even on the doors, the fixed screen appears larger than in other implementations and the metal appears to be real. It doesn't look like that gimmicky painted plastic. We'll find out when we see it in the flesh.
The best part about these spy pics is that this is the FIRST time we're all getting a look at the vehicle's head-up display. Though it's a bit tough to make out, you'll see it below.

Why do they persist with these displays sticking out of the dash? Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks flimsy, looks like an afterthought and breaks the flow of the dash. I don't like them popping out of the dash either. Fit the panel into the dash!

I disagree.
Having the monitor designed into the dash just creates one large, clunky dash.
Personally, I'd rather have a monitor sit on top of the dash and keep the interior design "light." I think Audi has implemented it best with ability to pop it up or store it away but folks will complain it looks like an Alpine unit from the 90s/2000s.
Lesson learned here: can't please them all.

I prefer them popping up. I don't want a constant panel ALWAYS showing; I'm NOT always using it.

Well, maybe it's the pictures then. I'll need to see it in person. Many times I've not liked something in a picture, then in real life completely change my opinion.

This is Mercedes. I'm sure a considerable amount of research went into the design decision for the "tacked-on" monitor. The fact that they implemented across the A-Class line, and now continuing with the C-Class, even as it appears to be taking the C upmarket says alot about their trust in it. I'm sure there are a number of advantages for its current placement from cost-effectiveness (not having to create two different dashboards for non-navigation-equipped cars) and sightline benefits (its place a bit further into the cabin avoids a certain amount of sun distraction). I'm sure they could have gone with a retracting design, but why? The only time it would be retracted when the car is not in motion.

You forgot, the updated G-Wagon also has the free-standing monitor as well.

Most users feel a retractable display means the manufacturer is cutting corners.
If it wasn't built into the dash, it was an afterthought. (At least, that's the common perception).

Why would someone consider a retractable display as cutting corners?? It requires a motorized system which is rather costly.

Interesting shifter thing in the middle. I wonder how long before the Koreans wow us with their own shifter taken directly from the molds at the MB factory.

i love the interior, but hate the way the gps is implemented in the cla and now the c-class, really looks like an after thought to me...
