DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Initial List Of Debuts Brings Excitement AND Surprises
The organizers of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, otherwise known as the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), have come together and compiled a preliminary list of the vehicle set to debut in the Motor City. And while I was expecting some all-new debuts, it looks like this could be a very good show.

We're going to be VERY busy.

That's because here's a taste of what is interesting:

- BMW M235i
- BMW M3/M4
- Chevrolet Corvette Z06
- Lexus RC-F
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class
- Porsche 911 (991) Targa
- Nissan IDx Freeflow
- Nissan IDx NISMO

And that's just the start!

That said, what are YOU looking forward to when Detroit rolls around?

That makes two of us!

Word seems to suggest it will be supercharged, which is a shame because I LOVED that 7.0-liter LS7. BEST motor on the Z06.

Phaeton? Numerous rumors this year, haven't heard much lately.

Well, in the list above there is (1) VW North American production car making a debut. Could be it.

Haven't heard much about the Phaeton making its comeback either.

The VW production introduction had better be the CrossBlue is VW has any brains at all, but it's probably the boring new-same-as-the-old Golf that is a North American sales dud. As for their concepts, an Avalon-sized CC would be smart as would an Amarok. The Phaeton would be a dead WRONG move, but VW likes making dumb moves so it is possible.

I wouldn't think it's the Golf just because it showed the MK7 Golf at the NYIAS last year.

I am thinking it has to be something else production ready.

@Agent00R but that was the European Golf...the totally identical American Golf has not been unveiled yet! THAT is typical VW logic.

There will not be the Phaeton. There has been not a sniff all over the internet other than long range predictions. Personally, as the owner of a 2008 V8 Phaeton I cannot wait much longer before bursting with curiosity. This is a wonderful car, much maligned by those who do not know it and a few in America who seemed to have suffered either teething troubles or just plain bad VW dealers back in the day when it was introduced. A car like no other, a thrill to own and drive, far and away more satisfying and romantic than any corny Merc or passé faux ferocious BMW.
And I wonder if the new one could ever be as excellent, unless it has had Ferdinand Piëch's direct input again?
