Having spent 10 yrs in Asia, I see the logic of this. Rich people in Asia like to be driven, even if they're only in their 30s, and the extra length will strengthen the C's appeal in Asia.

I understand that rich people in Asia usually have a chauffeur. But why not stretch the E since it's already longer? Also C class used to be the entry level before the CLA. If they have the money, they're not gonna get a long wheelbase entry level car. (Even if they are young)

This move follows in Audi's footsteps. Audi has had an A4L and A6L ("L" for long wheel base) in the Chinese market for a long time. Like Mercedes, both the A4L and A6L models are built in China.

In Asia, the C-class is not seen as an "entry" level car. Even as a 2nd car of a wealthy couple, that car is used to drive the lady of the house so that's why they want a longer version.
