SPIED: NEW Pictures Of The Upcoming, Next-Gen BMW 7-Series
The BMW 7-Series is the brand's technological tour de force. Much like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, it's supposed to be the vehicle in the Bavarian's portfolio that displays the latest technological advancements.

Though, I reckon the all-new i8 and i3 will steal that title.

That's because BMW's electric vehicles are utilizing the latest driving technology for optimal driving efficiency, and construction techniques that create lightweight — and strong — frames, thanks to carbon fiber reinforced plastic. Expect more of the EVs tech to make its way into normal gasoline-powered vehicles.

One of the first products to benefit will be the next-gen 7-Series.

From what we can tell this vehicle doesn't seem to look all that different from the current-gen product. We're hoping BMW gets a bit more edgy with its design once the camouflage — and hopefully cladding — comes off.

...Our spy photographers report seeing both regular and long-wheelbase versions of the 7-series testing with new bodywork. While previous test mules have worn more similar bodywork to the current 7-series, these prototypes appear to have significantly changed styling.

BMW is planning to take the fight to the new Mercedes S-class with the 7-series, which development boss Herbert Diess calls the most technically advanced car in BMW’s history...

Still has the Bangle butt. Still has the cliché, shaped exhaust outlets. What's the big news?

Oh you mean the S-class with the Buick looking steering wheel. Your right nothing (or I) won't be touching the Buick looking dash and steering wheel. Nice car - terrible design inside if you want it to mimic the old Buick's.

Look closely, does not have Bangle butt. "Nothing will tough the new S-Class" for tasteless ghetto bling gaudy styling. The 7 Series by contrast will be as tasteful as Hugo Boss or Cole Haan.

The BMW 7-series has been irrelevant since the Bangle-era design. It has neither won car magazine comparison tests nor come close to touching the S-class' lofty sales numbers. I don't expect anything to change with the looks of this design.

BMW needs to improve the handling and luxury by miles in order to touch the A8's (handling) and S-class's. (luxury).

For what it's worth, the 7-Series has been the global sales leader for the segment through November 2013. I think it needs to be replaced, too, but like it or not it's still #1 for 2013. In the spirit of Christmas I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't know. Merry Christmas.

JRobUSC thats only because everyone was holding out for the new S-class. Pretty sure that overall mercedes has sold more W221s than BMW will sell their current model 7 series. Likewise I'm sure that the s-class outsold the current 7 series worldwide when the 7 was first introduced in 2010. Let's see if the 7 can outsell this new S in it's first year of sales like the S did the 7. Don't count on it.

Agree, germanlover. The S-Class had 30,000 pre-orders.

ok, then what about the A8? You're marginalizing the 7-Series for being #1 in the segment for the year because a new S-class was coming out, so what does that say for the A8, which is newer than the 7?

I have a feeling BMW will go with a "conservative" and "safe" evolutionary style and not use the CS-Concept as a template. Believe CS designer went to MB about 4 years ago.

Every single comparison test says the A8 handles better than the 7-Series and has better dynamics. Every single review also says the S-class is a better overall luxury sedan than the 7-series and the sales numbers support this claim.

The Joe Camel hood is the new Bangle butt.
