Porsche Planning Safari Off Road Version Of The 911?
Porsche feels there's room to expand the 911 lineup beyond the Carrera, Turbo and GT models, with an off-road “crossover” concept set to debut at the Beijing Auto Show this April. Dubbed the 911 Safari, according to German publication Motor Revue the concept will be based on the Carrera 4 and come with larger tires, skid plates, a suspension tuned for off-roading and higher ground clearance.

Make the idiocy at Porsche STOP! First it will be a high riding 911 then a high riding Cayman then a high riding Boxster then a high riding 911 convertible then a high riding Targa

The non-stop imagining of niches by the Germans must be a psychosis of some sort.

Don't they already have the Macan? If it's not an off-road "crossover" then what is it? Makes no sense.

I read this to be more of a Rally car. Porshe has a long history in this area, reaching a pinnacle with the 959 Dakar, a technical and quite capable off road super car in its era even finishing first and second in the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1986. Porshe have also been modified to run the Pikes Peak race, smashing records in class along the way.

These will be specialty cars, and limited production.
