VIDEO: Did Audi's A3 Spots For The Super Bowl LEAK Early? AWESOME? AWFUL? Weigh In!
One of our favorite automakers is Audi. The four rings not only makes great products, it also tends to have some seriously hilarious advertisements.

Still, one of my favorite car commercials is for the Audi R8 and spoofs the Godfather.

Though, if I am honest, the spots haven't delivered the past couple of years. They were OK but not on the level of Chrysler's jaw-dropping ads that blew everyone away.

This year we know the Audi A3 is up for the Super Bowl thanks to an Audi-issued press release. And, this week, four videos surfaced on Audi of America's YouTube account. It's interesting to note that all four clips are "unlisted," which — to me — says that these might be the actual clips intended to be viewed on the BIG game day.

If so, is Audi's attack on the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class WEAK or AWESOME?

Start off the new year uncompromised by holding out for the right luxury car -- a car that's special. Substantial. And that car is the all-new Audi A3. With its innovative design and unparalleled craftsmanship, it's clear why the Audi A3 is worth the wait.

Don't give in to the temptations to settle for the wrong luxury car.

Take it from this guy - holding out for the right luxury car might not be easy, but it's worth it.

Father knows best -- especially when it comes to saving yourself for the right luxury car.

Audi makes great cars. No one can deny that. But I lose so much respect for their advertising campaign that seeks to put their direct competitors under an unflattering light. I think it's childish and ineffective, and their sales numbers (against the Big Luxury Three) continue to prove it. And it certainly won't win them any recruits from the competing brands, which should be one of their main ways to conquer the market.

I think this is in fact a way to recognize that MB , BMW, and Lexus are the brands that they want to beat....but with this kind of advertising they are recognizing those brands as Excellent Brands.... If I was AUDI I would fire that advertising company.

They did not say those brands were excellent. They are merely recognizing that the customers they are targeting will also be, if they do not already own, cross-shopping those brands.

Last year's Audi commercial during the Superbowl was good. This one is weak; a little cheesy.

awful. little upside for Audi, lots of downside. this might make sense for Genesis, but Audi? they should act like they already belong.

Couldn't agree more. Besides -- no matter how much they improved it for 2014 -- since when is an A3 a "luxury" car?

Audi nailed it.

This is brilliant and ballsy advertising. Someone needs to send BMW packing on their "ultimate driving machine" nonsense. If anything the Audi commercials are too tame and needed to be much more sinister. The BS expressed above that Audi should have observed some sense of "decorum" in its competition with BMW and Mercedes is asinine. I say bring out the Louisville Slugger. Hell, and Audi commercial apologizing for Mercedes" financial rape of Chrysler would be a delight.

No, it's classless. Then again, you relate perfectly.

Must be an old age thing. *sends a shipment of Geritol* Old people are concerned with "class" and "decorum" as if they have any wisdom that should be listened to while those of us young enough to have a pulse like some good scrapping now and then. This is why I own a TVR Sagaris instead of a Porsche. The Jaguar "cat reflexes" is another great example of Louisville Slugger advertising and the Mercedes response is lame and pathetic like the oldsters their S Class is designed for.

Audi's commercials are fantastic and really drive home the point that Audi is the alternative and progressive luxury brand. From attacking Mercedes-Benz for its 80 year-old S-class customers and BMW for its aggressive driver image to showing consumers they don't have to follow the heard to get a great luxury car, Audi's commercials are extremely effective.

Audi is really hitting on all cylinders as a company. From significant cost savings due to its VAG membership, huge sales growth and market-leading status in the hugely important Chinese market, differentiated and aggressive exterior design on the horizon, top-notch interiors oozing with luxury, cutting edge technology, remodeled dealerships, expanding product portfolio and a huge 5-year $30 billion investment in expanding its production capabilities, model portfolio and innovative technologies, Audi is the brand BMW and Mercedes-Benz are deadly afraid of.

This creative and aggressive advertising is an extremely effective way to get consumers to further notice Audi. Bravo, Audi, bravo!

Typical childish and classless drivel from Audi. Make fun of the competition, and hope that shames people into buying your product?

What happened to "Truth in Engineering"? Looks like it's became "Sales through play-ground name calling".

This just reinforces my feeling that Audi really are scum as a brand.

I wouldn't mind so much if the advert was actually any good, but it's not entertaining in the slightest. The 'Transporter' style ad they did featuring Jason Statham's character driving various marques over the decades was actually a really good advert.

Also, since I am the target demographic for this (it seems), shouldn't they be trying to make an Ad selling the A3 to me, rather than just mocking my previous choices...

Sorry, maybe I am old fashioned, but treating customers with respect and treating your peers & competitors with respect are both equally important -- especially when it's the success of those peers & competitors Audi are trying to emulate, and trying to emulate it by selling to your competitions customers!

Poor advert, terrible marketing.
