BMW To Add 4-Series Gran Coupe To Line Up
BMW will add a third model to its newly established 4-series line-up with the launch of a four-door Gran Coupé.

Set to make its world debut at the Geneva motor show, the new liftback model will join the 4-series coupé and convertible models as “a visually racier but eminently practical four-door alternative to the traditional 3-series saloon”.

The 4-series Gran Coupé uses the same structure as the 4-series coupé and 3-series saloon, with a 2810mm wheelbase. The four-door layout has been made possible by shortening the length of the front doors to accommodate smaller rear doors. All doors are frameless and the B-pillars have been beefed up for added structural rigidity.

Hey Bimmer, way to take a bite out of 5 series sales..., this is perfect for buyers who wanted something more special than a 3 series, but not as big or expensive as a 5 series

It does appear they need to be watchful of product overlap.

Honestly...BMW designs are overlapping across the series to the point of almost having to walk to the back of the vehicle to see the nameplate. That is an issue.

Seems like BMW is learning from Audi, so that BMW can become as mainstream as something like a cheap premium-wannabe brand.

On the other hand, Lexus does not need to make such stupid moves, as there is Toyota.

And we all know Lexus is right now the most luxurious brand in the world.

Of course. That is why Audi has sold over 1.5 million cars globally already in 2013 and is targeting over 2 million cars sold per year by 2020 while Lexus hasn't even topped 500,00 this year.
