Matthew, you were right. Yamaha does not smoke Ducati. The whole lot of japanese motorbikes do smoke Ducati. MotoGP is the prove of evidence. To be more precise, Ducati is nothing better than the carbon fiber mold sitting on the Ohlin suspension. You would be surprised to know how Ducati charge you the extra dollars from those rubbish carbon fibers, which do nothing to help improve the performance of the bike. What they did was just trying to build the value into it and make people believe so. From my point of view, if it is about the performance, just buy Yamaha but if it is about investment then buy Ducati.

Anyway, Ducati is still a good bike though.

Is like Porsche and Merc. If you want Sport buy Porsche, if you want luxury and "some" sport features, then buy a Merc or even better a BMW but please Check Most Bike Champions Drive Japanese Bikes and that is from may years ago. I love a Merc, lots of power even at low RPMs and the in a perfect Silence thats mean a sofisticated car for me, you'll have all necessary power and the engine will no be crying. Bimers lovers will say that they love the sound of a high speed reving engine and Sound sporty for all of them they enjoy that and there is nothing wrong with that. In the paper both brands looks preety good and have almost the same numbers but the are completly diferent philosophy. Lexus is a wonderful car (even if I am not fan of them) is the Japanese Philosophy and is realy good, but personaly I will not buy until the materials match the Merc. Lexus materials are almos at the same level with BMW and when they offer an Anti-Rust warrantee of 12 years like BMW or 30 years like MB, then, may be, I will mind to buy a Lexus

This one will most likely sell better than Ferrari. If Lexus follows the same pattern as it does with it's other cars, it will be cheaper, more reliable, more luxurious, and comparable with power and performance. People will most likely like this car better than a Ferrari.

Ferrari is great but it still do have competitors.
And it's competitors keep on increasing and that too are coming mainly from the Normal brands like Audi,MB,BMW,LEXUS,INFINTI,ACURA...etc.
and not much from the biggies like RR,Bentley,Maybach...etc.

So understand,Carworld is offcourse all about engineering but it's also a business.
Carmakers do enter into new and what u say as 'other planet Segments' for many reasons.

Ferrari is not untouchable, look at the Bugattie Veyron, it has overpassed most of Ferrari's vehicles and its a stupid Volkswagen. If Volkswagen can out do Ferrari, I have no doubt that Toyota can.

What does history have to do with a car's performance? Lexus can, and probably will, be a better car than Ferrari. You don't even know that it will be cheap. It's a super car so it probably won't be under 100k. Plus, if Lexus can build a better car than Ferrari (and they can), I would take the Lexus because it's cheaper and better than the Ferrari. Who's to say Lexus can't compete with Ferrari. They just have to make a supercar with enough speed and boom, they're in the same league. History has nothing to do with anything.

Do you even know what makes a Ferrari so desirable? It's the Italian styling, the orgasmically glorious exhaust note, the sublime handling and control, the way the driver feels utterly connected to the car.

You feel emotionally connected. You forget it was even made by humans. It becomes a living creature.

Contrast that to the boring, non-handling cars Lexus produces.

I bet there are a coupe of F430's at Lexus headquarters being taken apart and computer-analysed so Lexus engineers can replicate the exhaust note or leather smell or whatever.

Sure Lexus can compete. But there's no 'beat' in compete.

I don't think BMW can compete with Ferrari.

I'm sure if they did, they would produce a fine-handling and fast supercar. (Although BMW 'sports cars' have never seen much acclaim, Z3 and Z4 always falling short of their rivals)

Fact is, German engineering can only get you so far. The passion of the Italians makes Ferrari what it is.

You could argue that Lamborghini gives you the best of both worlds, Italian passion and German engineering. Fact is, the new crop of Lamborghini's lack a certain something.

Visually they are stunning, but for me there is a lack of emotional connection.

Where am I going with this?

The Germans can't do Italian like the Italian's. And if Ferrari were to be all sensible, they wouldn't be Ferrari anymore.

Well Porsche usually beats and for a better price. So does the Corvette Z06.
And the older Ferrari are now left behind even on the track by newer german offerings.
But definately nobody can give you that feeling that Ferrari gives you. That passion just isn't there.
Now Lexus can't even stand up to the lower german offerins, let alone Ferrari.
But I guess right Lexoyota fans are reaching new levels of euphoria in Fantasy Land.

I think 90% of you should all just shut the F*** up when you guys talk about Ferraris. If you never owned up, then you're not qualified to talk about it. I've owned both the F360 and the F355, and let me tell you something, reliability is definitely an issue that is important to the owners (in response to all you idiots who said that it didn't matter to us). Yes, it's mostly a weekend car, but as with any car owner, I despise having to fix any issues with the car, period. This is not to mention that that car can not be serviced quickly sometimes, needing to move parts from Italy. Yes, the "sound, look, and feel" of a Ferrari is nice, but it's not why I bought it, and it's definitely not unique (as many idiots again suggested). In fact, if you've driven Lamborghinis, Porsches, and some Aston Martins, you'll notice that each one will instill some form of exhiliration in you when you drive them. I am sure if Lexus makes a "supercar" that "feeling" will be there as well. At least until I test drive the real car itself, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they know what they're doing when making a car in this category. So here, this is what one real owner of the so-called exotic car thinks about the Lexus-made Ferrari competitor. Unless you actually own an "exotic", stop representing us in why we buy these cars and what matters to us. (That really annoys me for some reason)

You keep saying that Lexus can't be as good of a car as Ferrari because it doesn't have the history. Let me tell you something, history doesn't make the car. Look at Mercedes, they were the first vehicles ever and Lexus has better quality. Mercedes has more experience, but Lexus knows what they're doing and if they want to make a supercar comparable to Ferrari, there's nothing stopping them. Lexus can suceed at anything they put their minds to.
