It certainly looks like it! Buckle up for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), it looks like it's going to be a helluva ride!
This isn't the first teaser we've seen of what may
possibly be the all-new Maxima. Back at a press event late this summer, Nissan teased a couple of products and this was seen in a more revealing fashion.

The original images showed a vehicle with a clamshell roof and a
very interestingly designed C-Pillar. It has a much more cohesive and modern look than the current-gen crop of bulbous Nissan sedans. Very premium looking. Of course, this is all good news.
That said, this new image was released via Nissan to drum up tension before it appears in Detroit. From what we can tell, it appears to be a
very aggressive design that will definitely gain Nissan some serious traction in the space. This is what we've been talking about with automakers taking risks.
Essentially, it looks like a GT-R four-door sedan.
Now, let's hope the brand realizes this design language and it comes to production at an acceptable price.
From the looks of things so far, this may be one of the more exciting cars I want to see at the Detroit show, along with the IDx NISMO and BMW M3/M4.

The Sport Sedan Concept will be joined by the North America debuts of the Nissan IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO concepts, which were among the most popular vehicles at the recent Tokyo Motor Show.
The Sport Sedan Concept previews a new energetic design direction that amplifies Nissan's legendary approach of applying sports car principles to a sedan. The IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO's innovative, eye-catching designs offer two different approaches to a next-generation compact vehicle – one expressing a casual, lifestyle-focused vision and the other an ultra-sporty design that looks as if it came directly from a driving video game.
The trio of concepts will be revealed at a press conference on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 3:50 p.m. EST and displayed throughout the public days of the show, which runs at Detroit's Cobo Hall from January 18th through 26th.
