DETROIT AUTO SHOW: It's OFFICIAL! Subaru's Bringing Something SPECIAL To Motown!
Unlike some people around here, I am a fan of ALL autos. What can I say, I love things with four wheels — in some cases, even two. And though the 2015 Subaru WRX has been receiving a heaping full of hate, I actually think it's a move in the right direction for the brand if it wants to get more serious and attract a broader audience.

But if the WRX didn't quite satisfy your hunger, well, guess what?

It turns out Subaru has officially announced via a press release issued yesterday that it will be bringing the WRX STI to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS).

Details are mum and there haven't been any sightings. As the show nears, we'll update you with the latest information and pictures as they come in!

Ah, please. Just because it's not your flavor doesn't mean it's boring.

I reckon Subaru's WRX and WRX STI are some of the most capable and interesting products, particularly if you have the wherewithal to take one of them rallying.

I doubt you've ever driven a WRX or STi, let alone in anger.

Agent00R, I agree. The thing about Subaru is they know who they are and who their customers are...and they stay true to both.

Right on.

@Agent00R...have you LOOKED at a Subaru? I should have been more clear. My gripe is that they produce products like the WRX STI that can run with the premiums, but it's like they channel styling from the dark days of AMC. They tease with game changing styling on their concepts and then bring something "meh" to the dealers in terms of looks. Would it really hurt them to throw on some gorgeous styling. The BRZ is a mostly great car (desperately needs a turbo), so why can't it be stunning to look at like a Jaguar F Type?

I'd love to see a Legacy WRX STI with 6 cylinder turbo. BRZ Turbo or BRZ H6.

Why do you think Subaru wants to run with "the premiums"?

You obviously know nothing about Subaru. If you did, you would know the correct model designations of the performance variant of the Legacy.

Your posts read like you simply regurgitate what another blogger/writer/critic says without having any first hand knowledge or experience.

Yes, I have LOOKED at many Subarus. I think they've got a certain look that can be appreciated by a certain buyer. Of course, the Tribeca was a mess but that's another story.

Personally, I like the new WRX. It's a step up — inside AND out — for the nameplate. Did the concept look WAY better? OF COURSE! It's a concept. Some companies build cars exactly like their concepts — GM, BMW, etc. — and some have to water it down to get to production. That's reality.

If Subaru is doing the smart thing, they're going to transfer that WRX Concept's styling to the Legacy — or some other nameplate — and price it at a bit of a premium to net more margin a la Passat CC. I would guess the Impreza and WRXs are low margin vehicles. So why muck up a good thing "just because?"

This is a business at the end of the day.

Oh, and Subaru isn't using the Impreza WRX to "run with the premiums." This was a vehicle built with a Spartan interior simply with the intent of going fast and rallying.

Oh, and I'd love to see a Legacy Spec B, again.
