OFFICIAL: Roger Rodas And Paul Walker Were Traveling North Of 100 MPH Before Losing Control
This week details surrounding Roger Rodas' and Paul Walker's death were revealed as the autopsy reports were released to the public in full. If you're looking for the report, you can find it elsewhere on the 'net as we feel it's unnecessary to publish in this forum.

In November, Rodas and Walker were both killed in a car accident involving a Porsche Carrera GT.

The details, which are quite graphic, are prefaced with a description of what investigators believe happened. Essentially, it says that Rodas was traveling upwards of 100 mph in the Carrera GT before losing control — for some unknown reason — and the vehicle went sideways.

I hate to say "I told you so," but as seen from the initial crash photos, the car was essentially split in two due to the force of an impact from traveling at a high rate of speed. Although I am not an accident expert, I've seen far too many cases where a mid-engine, carbon fiber monocoque chassis goes sideways and separates exposing the passengers. Of course, all of these instances happen at tremendous speed.

While it's very easy to point a finger at Rodas and Walker and claim they're idiots or reckless, I'd wager a lot of you reading this would push a Carrera GT to the limit IF you were afforded the opportunity.

It just goes to show, our time here is limited and your ticket in this ride called life can be revoked at any time. Be safe out there, Spies!

All that said, I want to end this on a positive note. Although there may have been an error in judgment, Walker wasn't a bad individual. To see what I am talking about, check out this brief video about his charity, below.

"I'd wager a lot of you reading this would push a Carrera GT to the limit IF you were afforded the opportunity. " -- on a track, yes. On a public street, that's just stupid.

DUHH! They were jackbutting around in the Porsche and it bit their a$$e$ just like a Porsche bit James Dean who was jackbutting it around. And to think PORSCHE was blamed. Porsche makes amazing cars, but you need to have amazing skills to drive them at the limit and even then you might get bitten.

Yeah, I have to agree.

The early speculation blaming the car for bogus, and frankly, made up issues — e.g., power steering failure — was really frustrating to hear.

"I'd wager a lot of you reading this would push a Carrera GT to the limit IF you were afforded the opportunity. "

- Some vehicles offer simply too much performance for the streets. It's limits are too high for the streets. Anyone who tries to push a vehicle like that to the limits, on public roads, will usually end up like they did.

And not everyone even has the skills to push car like that to the limit. Maybe a very few. You are just pushing your limits, not the vehicles. That fact that you think that you, or anyone else can simply push a Carrera GT to the limits on public roads? Tells me that "afforded the opportunity" you would end up like those guys.

You think that you can just hop in a Carrera GT and start pushing it to it's limits? If you aren't a race car driver... Then you have zero respect for something capable of killing you. Please don't push any super car to the limits if "afforded the opportunity". You will die.

@LexSucks

Either you're a complete moron or you're trolling. I can't tell.

You're making a boatload of ASSumptions and writing words I didn't say or imply.

Of course not everyone can handle a Carrera GT — even seasoned professionals can't. Hell, I even wrote the thread about it, as can be seen here:

http://www.autospies.com/news/A-CLOSER-Look-At-The-Hardcore-Porsche-Carrera-GT-A-Road-Going-Car-That-DEMANDS-Respect-79121/

Anyone with a brain understands that there is one certainty: If you build it, they will push it — public roads or track, doesn't matter. That would explain the MULTITUDE of crashes from a varied levels of skilled drivers behind the wheel of the CGT.

Most folks don't buy a supercar to putter around town and that's just reality, of course every car has a limit and every driver has a specific skill set. It's about understanding where your talent runs out.

I'm not making any assumptions. What you said was clear. You said that "I'd wager a lot of you reading this would push a Carrera GT to the limit IF you were afforded the opportunity". Who's gonna do that? Push a Carrera GT to it's limits?

The people who purchase those cars aren't capable of pushing them to the vehicles limits. When they crash, they didn't crash because they pushed the car to its limits. They crashed because they didn't have the talent necessary to explore the vehicles limits.

You make it sound like they outdrove the car causing it to crash, when the reality is they just didn't know how to freaking drive, and sloppy driving caused the crashes.

Curious... is it a common view that a car is 'amazing' even if it is almost a given that it will bite your head when you try drive it like a high end performance car?

It wont bite your head off if you drive it like a High-Performance car. It will bite your head off if you push the car beyond it's limits, and don't have the necessary skills to handle the situation. Do you think that a Carrera GT will bite you head off simply by driving it spiritedly? It wont.

I guess it comes down to what you consider to be "driving it like a high performance car". If you consider that to be travailing over 70 mph pass the speed limit, and going sideways? Then any sports car will bite your head off. But if you are driving in the mountains, 10 or 20 mph over the speed limit, it wont bite your head off.

Any car will bite you head off if you drive it like an idiot. It's just that some cars are easier to handle beyond the limit. A limit that no one shouldn't ever get anywhere near close to on public roads. Got it?

100 mph in suburban streets? Good riddance to them. Goddamn idiot Rodas was danger to everyone. Complete asshole to threaten us all with his complete disregard for the safety of his passenger and the helpless, innocent people outside his goddamn "super car". Good riddance.

I though they said that they were travelling at 45mph? Everyone knew that was BS.

At least these latest comments are not disputing the coroner's findings that they both had multiple fractures indicating 100 plus MPH at time of impact. You cannot get those kinds of multiple fractures at 45 MPH from inside a car crash. It is very sad that this happened but it's also clear that Rodas took a clear risk in driving on this little make shift public road driving course with a car so powerful and so unforgiving. It was simply a reckless decision. RIP to the both of them.
