GREAT DEBATE: What Is The Most BORING Car On The Market And MOST BORING Automaker Today?
Around here we are always amped up about the latest products, gadgets and gizmos that are cutting edge. After all, we're all "tech guys." We love seeing what advancements will be coming to a showroom near you at least five years down the road.

BUT, for every Mercedes-Benz S-Class or Pagani Huayra, there's a beige car with a beige interior, bad plastics and is akin to an appliance. I can think of one or two vehicles in my day that I've driven and thought I probably would have had more fun with a washing machine on four wheels.

That said, we turn to you — the AutoSpies faithful — to tell US what YOU think is the MOST BORING car on the market today. Name 'em and shame 'em!

In addition, we also want you to let us know who YOU think is the MOST BORING automaker. What company just isn't producing products with "sex" in them?

Spies, discuss!

Hmm, good question.

I am going to say Ferrari, as they really don't seem to know how to design good looking cars. Take a look at FF and California for example. California looks more like an oversized Infiniti G37 or last gen Mazda3. Looks nothing like a supercar, but more like a chick car. Does Ferrari even care about "design" anymore? Do they not know why Ferrari is becoming a car for posers and all the young buyers are going to Lamborghini?

And Maserati....well, we all know it is already a failed brand. No wonder they are desperate to make this mid size sedan, to compete with Lexus GS. But sorry, everyone knows GS and Cadillac CTS are the best luxury mid size sedans in the market.

And hmm, add Mercedes as well. How many small cheap cars do they have now? Oh ya, Audi, too.

And Volkswagen........wait, they always were boring

I guess I forgot to mention Hyundai and Kia.

No matter what they do, no matter how much they try, none of their cars are interesting.

I believe their reputation will get better once they actually build a supercar, and/or stop mimicking the designs of other cars. Even though Hyundai and Kia have come a long way now, it is still pretty embarrassing to say "I drive a Hyundai".

Correction Mercedes Benz is one of the hottest brand on the market today.

Say what you want about small compact cars but they set the market on fire with their CLA and reignited many young professionals interest in the automotive industry and unlike their German rivals, Mercedes is not afraid to take risk with design, from the E class redesigned headlights, to the bold new look of the line up

The lame award will have to go to Toyota, the camry, corolla, and Rav 4 are responsible for more drivers dozing off, looking at them makes me yawn uncontrollably while driving

Toyota is too easy to pick on, but I agree that Mitsubishi and VW are BORES. Mitsubishi because it has no product and VW because it's a yawn fest. VW need something that trounces the Golf stylistically in the same way that the Golf I obliterated the Beetle.

The FWD VWs have always had dull styling after the days of Golf I and Scirocco I. The Corrado was a shockingly brutal design for its day and a flash of inspiration, but VW = YAWN.

Toyota-Lexus/Nissan-Infiniti/Hyundai & Kia/Mitsubishi are the least attractive, most boring vehicle Mfrs. Someone needs to just shoot Mitsubishi they've been here since the early 1980's and you'd think they'd have figured out this market. Though the other sell alot of cars there is no "passion" in anything they make. All 5 make hideous cars & trucks. VW makes the inspiring GTI and their Diesel cars bring value, that's enough in my book to keep them off this list.

Oh, on the CLA, if that car had a Buick Logo or another logo on it, it would not sell well. People are in a trance when it comes to the star. The CLA is not a very good piece but it has the star. As long as MB can punch the limits at the top end, which they ceaselessly continue to do, they can support cars like the CLA. They have too much cache and won't water it down on bottom end cars like this one.

Nissan/Infiniti is the winner. You can argue Mitsubishi, Hyundai/Kia, GM, Chrylser, Ford, Toyota/Lexus etc but no manufacturer other than Nissan/Infiniti has managed to do so LITTLE with so MANY resources. They've fallen asleep at the switch. The once-cutting-edge Murano is totally stale and Nissan completely missed out on an exploding crossover segment. The 370Z is somewhat lost in the 2000s. The Armada needs a refresh. Did they think no one would notice they redid the QX and not the Armada? The Infiniti brand is second to Lincoln on the totally-lost-meter with no flagship sedan and basically no vehicle that is anywhere near top of the class in any category (except maybe the QX56.. if it is even named that anymore). The entire lineup is niche, while not even being excellent at these niches they occupy.

To me the most boring car on the market today in the US is the Toyota Corolla followed closely by the Toyota Camry.Scion FRS and GT86 aside currently Toyota makes the most boring cars. That will change I hope.In the number 2 spot is the Nissan Versa and Nissan Sentra in the 3rd spot.
In spite of the chairman Toyoda insisting that the company will make exiting cars from now on Toyota has refused to add any exitement to the driving characteristics of these 2 family sedans. If it were not for the GT86,Scion FRS etc. There would not be a single interesting car to drive in Toyota's fleet.Nissan has enough interesting vehicles that more than off set it's 2 dull ones.

Volkswagen. They are moving away from sportier designs towards the dullness that is the new Jetta and Passat.

Most car manufacturers have both boring cars and exciting cars. But the highest ratio of boring probably goes to Buick, Infinity, Acura, Toyota, VW, Subaru, and Nissan. I don't even know if Mitsubishi sells anything new, their public profile has fallen so low. Sure Nissan has the 370Z and VW has the restyled Beetle and current GTI R, but everything else is middling to completely boring for those two companies. Lexus has the new IS which is not at all boring, but pretty much everything else Lexus sells is boring too so overall they rank high on the uninspiring meter. Hopefully, they'll figure it out.

As far as the most boring single car around, it has some qualities appliance-minded buyers like such as space and great MPG, but it is otherwise a very, very, entirely boring car. That car would be the Toyota Prius in all its current variations. There are other cars that are probably more boring like the Buick Verano or the Hyundai Accent, but the ubiquity of the Prius takes the prize because a decent number are sold and one is reminded frequently of its snooze factor each time it is seen on the road, in the left lane with no cars in front of it but plenty cars behind. I have driven the current and some prior iterations too so it's not based on looks alone.

Should clarify that I have driven the Prius as rentals selected by my company, not me.
