Good for him.He is confident enough to drive what he likes. Actually, it is also a generational issue. His generation views expensive (luxury) items differently then Gen X, Y, etc. does and views csspicuous consumption to be the route of a lot of problems that we are facing (economy, environmental issues) and they will spend for quality but not just to be flashy. They also do not want to show off because a lot of their friends may have finished college but are having a hard time finding work, so they are very sensitive to the woes of their peers. I wish my generation was as kind and socially aware. A lot of "luxury" companies are very concerned about how to lure this generation in given their preferences and concerns ...that is why the influx of lower end cars from Mercedes, BMW and soon Audi. I am sure that Nordstrom's hears the clock ticking louder and louder.

Funny but a lot of people in this site and in this country believe that just because you drive a high end car it must be that you are rich/wealthy. Pleanty of people that I know that earn 2 or 3 times more than I do and drive average cars.

To a lot of people, a car is just an appliance.
