DETROIT AUTO SHOW: NEW Shots Of The Chrysler 200 Look Like An Official LEAK To Us!
If there's one car that's been needing a complete overhaul, it's the Chrysler 200. Formerly known as the Chrysler Sebring, it was the epitome of a pre-crisis American car. Everything about it sucked.

But it appears the Chrysler 200 will be given an all-new life at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), thanks to the folks over at Chrysler Group.

This isn't the first time we're seeing it. We showed you spy shots of the all-new 200 weeks ago. Now, these shots look more like official "leaks," if you catch our drift. Once again, another MAJOR car has been added to the NAIAS docket. This show's going to be packed to the rafters!

Our friend, Vince Burlapp, got his hands on a couple extra shots of the vehicle that aren't anywhere else we've seen yet.

How do you think the all-new 200 looks in blue?

It's a more modern design than the old 200, that's for sure. It seems like it took inspiration from the Audi A7, Toyota Avalon and Ford Fusion, then Chrysler gave it a bit of a twist. Is that a GOOD or BAD thing?

Personally, I am looking forward to seeing this in person.

This feels like a lesson in "How To Make An Interesting Design Completely Anonymous"

This is the toughest segment (family sedan) and this is the best Chrysler can come up with? Its performance had better be out of this world because its exterior design is nothing but ordinary at best (Chrysler should have had this 5 years ago when Toyota and Honda were having supply problem).

So this is the new Chrysler 200? Were the preceding 199 equally uninspiring?

I think 'ordinary' is the watch-word for family sedans. Usually, the prettiest 'appliance' wins. Ground-breaking, earth-shattering designs are 'out', and efficient, clean, and comfortable designs are 'in'. It seems this is what Chrysler was aiming for, and it certainly looks like an improvement over the aged, old design.

Not sure what the nagging is all about, but that rear end looks like an Audi A7. Is that boring, also? lol

Um, yes. The rear of the A7 is its worst view.

Actually the more I look at it the more I like it.The front end I think is very elegant the way the headlights and the hood line border the front grill. The rear end looks like a cross between a Mazda 6 and an Audi A7. Both of these cars are the best looking in their segment. If there is a weakness at all the side/front 3/4 view looks a little like a Honda Civic sedan(but that's reaching a little bit). Overall it's a very pretty car.

I don't mean to criticize its look, it certainly is better looking than the other Chrysler sedans out there. But when you look at the line up of its competitors with all of their attributes (quality, reliability, comfort, fuel economy, etc.), what does this sedan has to offer to differentiate itself? That's what I was alluding to when I say its performance (be it driving dynamics, fuel economy, reliability, feature-pack, etc.) had better be outstanding because it really doesn't sets itself apart on the surface.

looks like a blend of ford fusion and audi... it's an anonymous sedan. That's what buyers in that segment look for. Another reason why many of these end up in rental car lots. It's not bad.. It's not great. It's just a sedan.

I think it has a face only a mother could love.

This is a merely OK effort. On one hand it is not another Gilles-designed Cherokee mess...something to cheer, but on the other hand it's not remarkable. The Fusion, Optima, and Mazda6 are quite handsome in person. I'm sure it's better than the current 200, but then again a Soviet-era Lada is too.

I think the front end is gorgeous, though it appears that the designers ran out of ideas where the roofline runs into the trunk section of the car. It's not hideous, but it isn't particularly memorable, either. The backend itself is OK, though overall it's a vast improvement over the car that proceeded it.
