Audi Q7 Tops Sales Prediction

Audi Q7 Tops Sales Prediction

Despite soaring gasoline prices and slumping sales of large SUVs, Audi's new seven-seat Q7 is proving there's still demand for a luxury model.

Key selling points are the more carlike ride and an additional 12 inches in length compared with the Q7's platform-mates, the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg.

The Q7 went on sale in mid-June. Through July, Audi has sold 1,900 Q7s. It has orders for 9,900. That's more than what Audi's top U.S. executive had predicted would sell.

Johan de Nysschen, who heads Audi of America, anticipated sales of 1,200 a month this year and about 20,000 units annually by 2008. "We have no experience in this segment," de Nysschen said earlier this year at the launch of the Q7, which was designed primarily for the United States.

Porsche sold only 13,607 Cayennes last year in the United States -- the vehicle's third year of sales.

Guys, we still have to wait and see if Audi can sustain the brisk sales figures.

it will do just fine.
Production is lower on the V8 now as they are building more V6.
My dealer only has 2 left in stock at this time and 75% of the ones coming in are sold.

BMWexpert- do you have anyother BMW vaperware that you can sell me today? The BMW looks like the saw the Audi specs and said we can copy that. I am sure it will be a nice truck but why are you such an idiot?

Does anyone on here own stock in these companies? Why would anyone possibly care how many units are sold other than to validate their own purchase. You like a BMW, hats off. I'm sure they're great cars. You like an Audi, great, go buy one. But I certainly wouldn't base my decision on how many people own them.

Me too. So you understand what I'm saying. Audi needs to continue to grow as a company, which, luckily for us, they have. Wether or not they sell more cars than BMW is of very little importance to me as long as the co. continues to expand. However it's not the amount of cars sold but the profit margine that keeps money in my pocket. For this Audi has been outstanding. There are companies with much higher sales numbers but their profits are much lower. That's why stock in Audi AG is $340 a share and stock in Ford is $8.

What I have trouble understanding, and maybe its because I'm fairly new to this blog, is how people who like nice cars compare quality with quantity. It's such an antithetical way of thinking. Maybe I should be glad I don't get it.

24hoj- everyone shares something

Bosch, and all the other oems are in every car
If you share boxers with a supermodel then all is well

The A4 or A6 share nothing in common with the Voilkswagen. The Phaton was built on a steel version of an Audi and was 1500 lbs more. So the VW was a rebaged Audi. The A8 is also used as the Gallardo frame. So i guess the Glarrado is a rebaged A8.

It might not be bashing but if you are incorrect it sounds stupid.

If you like the F430 then thank volkswagen because they designed and built it

BMW expert (?)

More people shop at Wal Mart than Saks. It's hardly conclusive evidence of a superior product. I'm not even saying BMW's are bad cars. Actually, quite the opposite, I know they're great. However, buying a car is a subjective decision... and a practicle one as well. When I bought my A8 in 2004, my short list included the S, 7, and A8. The S didn't compare back then. The 7 was great driving, but so was the 8 and it had AWD. Living in the NE that was important to me.

As far as a car making me feel "manly"..., well let's just say I'm glad I never needed that.

NE = North East. I live in New York too. Back what up? That I don't need a car to feel manly? I don't. I need a car to get to and from work. Anyone looking for a vehicle to improve their self-esteem has issues.

Are you really a BMW sales person? I can't imagine a co. as good as BMW has someone so irrational on their sales force.

Just one more thing. BMW may have the highest profit margin/ mark up but that doesn't translate to dividends for investors such as myself. Numbers (which are very easy to verify should you doubt my honesty) show that while BMW has been strong with a 14% increase and dividends of .64 cents a share they do not compare with Audi AG which, for the same time period, increased more than 40% and dividends 0f $1.15.

Like VW and BMW, Audi AG trades on the DAX, the German equivilant of the DJIA. Shares should be available from any knowledgable broker. As of Friday shares of Audi AG closed at 335.00 euros compared to 62.00 for VW and 40.00 for BMW. VW, as a company, benefits from the increased value of Audi stock as they are the majority holder. This is what seperates a division of a company (for example Lexus' relationship to Toyota) from a subsidiary. A subsidiary operates independently, but is ultimately controlled by the majority shareholder. Similarly this is the relationship which Porsche is trying to form with VW. As with all stocks, its not the asking price but the amount of growth which determines its value. In terms of an investment Audi has performed incredibly well over the past two years.

I agree that this site has gone down the tubes in the past month or so. It used to have some pretty interesting articles, but it has just turned into flame war hell. Did their moderators quit or something? Allowing any yahoo to start a thread and not moderating the responses is a recipe for disaster.
