Mercedes had a great year, and they finished strong outselling Audi globally in November and December. It looks like Mercedes will start 2014 as #2!!

Benz has some very compelling products out right now (and coming out soon). Not surprised they ended the year so strongly. Did they outsell BMW globally in November and December too or just Audi?

Just Audi, but Benz is definitely in the running to overtake both, a New C Class, GLA, GLK, ML coupe, Already successful S, refreshed E, CLA, A, and B class will see to that.

Lets not forget Mercedes sweet spot is the high end though. They do high end better than their German neighbors, and that only increases desire for their product at the lower end of the market, hence the success of the CLA coupe.

Once Mercedes figures out it Chinese marketing strategies and dealer networks, I really feel they could take the top spot, globally.

Mercedes-Benz missed the boat big-time in China. Considering Audi will surpass 500,000 units in China in 2014, Mercedes-Benz will have its hands full trying to figure out how to increase sales from its current level of 218,000.

Kind of like how Audi will have its hands full trying to figure out how to increase sales in the U.S from its current level of 158,000...

Benz had an 11% jump in china last year and their CLA, S, and E class are said to be selling like hot cakes right now in China.

2014 will be a telling year

2014 will indeed be a telling year. Audi increased sales in China last year by an astounding 21.2% given the already record-high number from 2012.

I really think Audi will have a monster year in the U.S. in 2014. The A3 is going to bring buyers rushing in like never before to start the year and the Q3 should sell in huge numbers too considering it's just a scaled-down Q5 for less money but crucially comes with significant levels of standard equipment.

Who cares about volume in this segment? I would care more about quality over quantity. I'm not defending MB because I prefer BMW. Just a consumer who would rather have a well built machine than a high volume car that is only meant to boost sales.
