The A3 does not hold a candle to the CLA design wise, and that is whats getting younger professionals rushing into Mercedes showrooms.

I guaruntee that if the A3 is half as successful as the CLA, you will see A4 sales take a nosedive, which by the way only sale 2-4k units per month in the U.S. to begin with

If the CLA was a joke...I promise you not one automaker is laughing, but Mercedes to the bank

Yes, it is a joke. It's a joke how successful this is, even beyond Mercedes' expectations, which is why they are falling into a supply shortage. "Badgewhoring" or not, it's a product in demand and that's all that's important to a car company.

The Audi A3 sedan is going to take a HUGE bite out of CLA sales. Buyers will realize the A3 sedan offers a much better interior, significantly more standard equipment and better driving dynamics. The icing on the cake is that when both are optioned similarly, the A3 sedan will be cheaper.

Mercedes-Benz better watch out because they rushed the CLA to market, didn't spend enough time on making a quality interior or providing nearly enough backseat room and now they will pay dearly once the A3 sedan goes on sale.

The A3 sedan will likely sell over 3K units per month. The A4's sales will remain just fine because the two are targeted at different buyers with different priorities in terms of interior space and different budgets.

STOP THE LIES, dreams are nice but keep them to yourself...

You must admit, Car4Life has a point about how these "xxx is going to take a huge bite out of ..." statements haven't quite come true yet.

The CLA is a budget Merc all you have to look at is the poorer quality interior. The back looks like like a 90's Taurus. Of course it is going to sell well at the price starting at $29,900. Here in Australia they sell for $49,900 where they are doing ok. I would buy one at the USA price but not for the Australian price. The A3 is a far better quality car, yes may not look as styled but the A3 is good for those who don't want the image of LOOK AT ME.

Rough ride, crappy, cheap interior, unengaging driving feel, deceiving pricing, I have no interest in the CLA.
I would take the A3. I don't care who's selling more units, its marketing. A "cheap Benz is a cheap Benz"
