DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Is The All-New Chrysler 200 A STUD or DUD? Did Chrysler Swing For The Fences And MISS?
It's easy to say that if we were to hold a poll and gain an industry consensus about WHICH auto is currently the WORST for sale, most folks would agree that the Chrysler 200 (Sebring) would take the top spot. Hell, if you were just looking for a set of wheels to get around and all they had left in the rental lot was a 200, there's a good chance you'd rather take public transportation.

They're just that bad.

Even though Chrysler has attempted to refresh the vehicle over the years, it's still horrid. Thankfully, it made some room in its budget to give the vehicle a complete overhaul. And, we got to see it at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

Sporting an all-new look that's got an Audi A7/Toyota Avalon C-Pillar and a "soft" nose not too far off from the likes of a 1990s Chevrolet Cavalier, I don't think it's going to win any style awards in the near future. It's a good looking, handsome product — at least in my eyes.

But is that good enough for you? Is the all-new Chrysler 200 a STUD or DUD?

The good news is that while it may not win over car fiends, it will likely allow Chrysler to move units without such HUGE incentives. Thereby it can actually sell less copies but net more dollars in the bank. Let's hope that's the case.

Reminds me of one of the many lookalike audis, only much better looking, since there is actually some thought and emotion in the design. Not bad Firysler....

Meh... A cross between a Civic and a 3 series that could have been executed by any of a dozen companies. It's not ugly but it feels like an 80s car when too many vehicles looked generally the same across many brands. Design language is supposed to give personality and individuality, not take it away. IMHO.

Thoroughly non-descript, completely inoffensive and utterly bland.

looks to be a very solid competitor to me. this class of cars are not for gearheads.

I think it will be competitive, but I thought the Dart would be, too. So, time will tell.

I thought it was so bland looking in blue. Just something straight out of Kia. But in white, it looks less horrible. I'll have to see it in person. The dud stamp is standing by though.

Bring back the Corinthian leather. That's the only thing that will help. This looks too much like a cross between the new Ford Fusion and Buick Regal.

Inoffensive, yet completely uninspiring. That decade-old looking front-end comes off as an after-thought.

Yes it looks like a lot of other cars on the market, but most of those others cars still looked a hell of a lot better than the Chrysler 200s of past.

There are a lot of corporate road warriors and rental cars that will be happy to add these to their inventory.

Should we worry about Chrysler? I mean, they are stretching to far with the 300, a nice car that needs a replacement already. Then this tepid approach to the car that should put them back on the map.
Thank God they have Jeep and Ram; otherwise they'd be in trouble.

I'd say they tried a bunt and barely made it to first base. It's barely acceptable. The back-end looks really nice, but the front end is still a busy, boring mess with that awful grill, and it looks very plasticky on the front-end. Still, doesn't look QUITE as cheap as the outgoing model.
