Cadillac Not Going Off The Deep End With New Models
Newly minted Cadillac Chief Marketing Officer Uwe Ellinghaus says the fast-growing General Motors luxury brand intends to keep a lid on model variants to minimize complexity and does not anticipate a product sliding under the entry-level ATS anytime soon.

“I do not think that we need a similar, complex product portfolio that bigger luxury brands have,” Ellinghaus tells WardsAuto at the 2014 North American International Auto Show here after revealing the ’15 ATS Coupe, a variant of the ATS Sedan.

They need to organize their current line up, how bout a clear flagship S Class Rival and midsize SUV to battle the M Class and X5, come on caddy I'm rooting for you but lack of consistency is going to hold you back

Neither the ATS nor CTS does it for me. Both would be at the bottom of my shopping list in their respective categories. The ATS looks like an updated previous gen Camry. And the CTS does not look as good in person as it does in pictures. The CTS looks too boxy and "old school" Cadillac, i.e., grandpa's car. I'd easily choose a 3 Series, IS, A4, or new C-Class over the ATS. And I'd easily choose an A6, GS, 5 Series or E-Class..maybe even the RLX SH-AWD..over a CTS.

And the pricing of the ELR..ridiculous. The styling of the ATS coupe…sad. I'm a little fearful for the next CTS coupe if the ATS coupe is any indication.

All true but this is the best we have seen from Cadillac in decades. And it's very impressive. Look at the sad cases with Lincoln and Chrysler

Correct but neither of them claimed to be "The standard of the world". Time for Caddy to back it up

I have to echo cidflekken's sentiments as far as the CTS not looking nearly as good in real life as on pictures. Caddy is situated opposite Mercedes at the Detroit Auto Show and when you have the CLA45AMG, new C class, new E class, etc. all basically a glance away from the ATS and CTS and ELR, well, it makes Cadillac look pretty boring.

Maybe it's because Mercedes styling has become far more attractive recently. But anyway I was expecting to be really excited by Cadillac, and instead walked away really disappointed by their showing. Still the sweetest Caddy there was the "old" CTS-V. By a mile.

The ELR is ridiculous and hopefully will embarass Caddy into doing something serious with an electric vehicle or quitting them for a while altogether.
