Tesla takes on the all new Corvette C7 Z51 at the drag strip
DragTimes.com put a 2013 Tesla Model S P85 up against the all new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 at Palm Beach International Raceway this weekend. While the stats were heavily in favor of the new Corvette with it's 460HP V8, 6 speed automatic transmission with launch control pushing 3,400 pounds, the Tesla held on well with it's instant on all electric 415 HP and 4,690 pounds.

When you can lay down that much power instantly (and not spin out), you're gonna get out quickly. That's the fun thing about electrics. Instant full torque, it's like diesel on steroids.

An electric car is the ultimate drag car, but the car with the ICE can do it as long as there is gas, while the Tesla may do a run or two before it's out for the count for the better part of a day.
