BMW dealers already employ a "genius". They also send out emails twice a year to customers and invite them to come in and they can go over service requirements and what certain lights mean as well as tutorials on functions and controls of the vehicle. However, most customers would rather complain about not knowing something than actually go in to a dealer and take the time to learn something.

If my math is right, they expect each dealer to spend $8.2 million to create an Apple look. Wow, you'd have to be pretty confident in your future offerings or really want to have a few conveniently jump ship and take on a different marque. It somewhat explains the "we now offer a 3 series in 73,489 different combinations..." They would have to dangle the volume carrot in front of most of those dealers to get that type of commitment.
