Is It Us? Or Is The Lexus Spindle Grill Just Growing Old?
In order to add some spice into what was a near flavorless pot of soup, Lexus knew that edgy, somewhat controversial styling needed to be done to its lineup. Beginning with the LFA, Lexus set out on a mission to redefine itself, and move away from that conservative image. But today’s car market is a different story, so Lexus went all out. The main result is its spindle grille, the angled hour glass-like design that now adorns the entire lineup.

At least Lexus like to try some thing new, unlike BMW and there 50 plus years of the kidney.

Getting old would imply people liked it at one time.

It might feel like it's getting old because it's on every single car and even their SUV's but I like it and quite frankly just about anything is better than the slowly progressing old designs they use to have especially on the GS.

If they played it safe they would have been criticized, I applaud their risk taking and hope to see even more in the future.

Not sure anyone really considered it "new" or, better yet, "groundbreaking". It was a fairly desperate attempt to put lipstick on that proverbial pig. It looks gimmicky and faddish which aren't endearing qualities for a luxury marque..or any marque.

Not as old as the BMW dual kidney grill. This design is decades old. You park too much at the exit of the BMW factory. The Lexus folks get creative and you hassle them after only three or so years on their design. Tell BMW to do something new then maybe your critique has more value. Maybe the 4.5er will change???

Lexus cars just getting and more and more uglier with each new model introduction because of that hideous Predator grill that looks like it's about ready to eat one of their retirement home customers and just give little children nightmares. Lexus stop the madness already you're creeping us out with your disastrous designs or even better yet fire all your Lexus + Toyota designers who are ruining your new cars with ugliness and or boring looks.

I think that it represents a ghastly mistake. Looks like the mouth of someone who has a horrible underbite. Looks like the jaw of a piranha. Not flattering. Imagine what it's going to look like the first time someone backs into that face. Besides ugly, it'll probably cost a fortune to repair something like this. I agree with MicrosoftUser. Lexus should take a cue from Hyundai with its new Genesis. I think that it has great class. Just wish that they would offer it as an awd hybrid.
