Audi Sets Record With 37th Consecutive Month of U.S. Sales Increase As January Sales Rise 0.4%

•Audi Q5, Q7 sales increased 18.3% and 42.6% in January, making up a third of total sales
•Audi R8 vehicles rose 65.3% over the previous mark last year
•Audi Certified pre-owned sales sets 6th consecutive record month

Audi reported January 2014 sales of 10,101 vehicles, a 0.4% increase over the previous January record set last year. January stands as the brand’s 37th consecutive month of record sales, making it the longest running monthly record streak in the premium car market.

“Starting off 2014 with a new January sales record is a noteworthy accomplishment as it follows the biggest month and the biggest year in Audi history,” said Mark Del Rosso, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “With the launch of the all-new Audi A3 family this spring and the continued success of our SUVs and TDI models, we anticipate continued success throughout this year.”

January sales results were bolstered by sales of Audi luxury SUVs compared to year-earlier results, with the Audi Q5 luxury crossover posting an 18.3% gain in January on 2,774 units delivered for the month. Sales of the Audi Q7 increased 42.6% to 1,268 vehicles sold.

Luxury sedan sales remained strong as the Audi A6 increased 17.6% to 1,481 vehicles sold for the month.

There has been high demand for the updated 2014 Audi R8 models, including the Audi R8 V8, Audi R8 V10 and Audi R8 V10 plus. Audi R8 January sales increased 65.3% versus the previous year.

Audi TDI sales started the year off strong with the addition of three new clean diesel models last year, including the Audi A6 TDI, Audi A7 TDI and Audi Q5 TDI. The Audi Q7 TDI and Q5 TDI – which first went on sale in fall 2013 – lead the models in the TDI mix with 22.9% and 17.4%.

January 2014 was the 6th consecutive record month for Audi Certified pre-owned vehicles sales with an increase of 11.2% for the month, to a total of 3,161 vehicles.

Ouch, at this rate, if the A3 does near the sales the CLA does, it will be Audi's best selling model. The Q5 crossover was their best selling model for Jan. and sold less than 3k.

I don't doubt that the A3 will do very well and will be Audi's best selling model. I also don't doubt that it will take away from the A4 sales since there are only negligible differences in interior volume and those negligible difference wont' make a difference to those with small families….or small dogs. But the price differences will make the difference. So, the net results may not be a win for Audi, but we will see.

Desperate? Just guessing here but pretty sure the Q5 has outsold the other 2 pretty consistently and a much larger margin. I just look at it as a positive sign from a company that is outsold by the other two in the 2-1 range.

right...glass half full approach, I'm sure an Audi salesman somewhere would appreciate it

Yes, but you can't deny the strength of Audi's momentum in the U.S. market. No other premium luxury brand has recorded 37 consecutive months of sales increases. Audi is taking a calculated and methodical approach to increasing sales in the U.S. and not offering huge incentives in order to increase sales volume. Audi understands the importance of operating profit to create long-term growth.

Still loving my Audi 6er for the quality, craftsmanship and BEST interior of any of the German makers. No always up NAV system like the 3 series (their other models have it built in); no HUGE dash board and Buick looking steering wheel like the big new Benz (have you seen that dashboard in that car. WOW!! Talk about ugly dash. Keep it clean!!

Yet the quality of the BMW Navigation system far exceeds that of the Audi with more information as well as being able to split the screen allowing you to see Ipad & Navigation at the same time or weather information or a mutliple of things. Plus I like having the Navigation up in sight at all times. When your A6 is driving it is up the entire time.

The 2015 Audi TT"s navigation and MMI system is better than the competition's. Audi uses a single all-digital dash to display all information directly in front of the driver. In the Mercedes-Benz S-class you have two all-digital screens side-by-side and with BMWs you have a non-digital dash that sits off to the side.
