STUD OR DUD? Subaru Legacy Leaks Out Ahead Of Chicago Debut

Official pictures of the new 2015 Subaru Legacy have leaked online ahead of the car's world debut at the Chicago motor show later this week.

The new car, previewed by the Legacy concept at the LA motor show in November, will be made as a saloon only - and Subaru has confirmed it will not be sold in the UK.

The production Legacy has retained elements of the concept's sleek front-end design, including its hexagonal grille and lower airdam. Subaru says the new car "offers enhanced drivability and functionality while achieving a design required for a flagship model with a quality feel".

I feel like I did a time warp to 10 years ago. That's how dated this "new" design already looks. Come on, Subaru, you can do much better than this. At least when Hyundai/Kia steals designs, they make it look fresh. This just looks like a bad mishmash of many other cars' design cues.

And how many other manufacturers can go with this grille design? Ford, Hyundai, Audi, and now Subaru.

I hate being mean to Subaru because they are such a "likeable" brand and those "we care about the world ads" are touching.

However, this design, exterior/interior, reminds me of Saturn or Pontiac saying we are exhausted and throwing in the towel.

I swear this is like telling that really nice, kind hearted chick that you just aren't into her...

Trying to apply a 'stud or dud' rating to a Subaru is a waste of time. A Subaru does what it is intended to do MUCH better than many other vehicles created for whatever other intentions. For that alone, they should get a triple A rating. They do not pretend to be something they are not. If you find that boring, then move on...but don't judge them for doing their job very well indeed.

You might almost have an argument, but for the fact the concept Subaru showed for this vehicle actually looked interesting, which sorta contradicts your assertion they don't care about styling.

Reminds me of the 03-07 Accord. Very bland. Frankly, in terms of appearance, it is blown out of the water by almost every other car in class except maybe the Camry.

Looks like a Camry with a boxer engine under the hood. BORING

Another fail from Subaru. It seems they are going through the same slump that Mazda went through in the late 1980's.

Subaru makes great cars and my family has owned several but this looks like offspring of a Ford Taurus and a 2005-2012 Toyota Avalon. I would love to see a return of a manual Legacy GT turbo though...

I've never expected much from Subaru in the looks department so any thing can be considered an improvement.

Previous models were more attractive. The front end of the new model is too bulbous and malproportioned. The interior seems OK, but just so.

I really like Subaru, but I must say this is a disappointment. The previous two generation designs were as good or better. At least they had some identity. This car looks like the generic, unrecognizable car you will see in some advertizing where they don't wish to use a specific car in order to sell tires or something.
Subaru really needs stronger styling. The product they produce deserves it.

Ford Taurus, Chevy Interior and VW Jetta (rear).
