Around 124,850 deliveries worldwide in January

Sales chief Luca de Meo: “Aiming to grow more strongly than worldwide car market in 2014”

Full-size models A6, A7, A8 and Q7 see significant rise in sales

A successful start: AUDI AG increased its sales in January by 11.7 percent year on year, delivering around 124,850 vehicles world-wide. The company saw its sales figures rise in all regions of the world. In Europe, Audi grew by 7.8 percent last month, deliveries in the Asia-Pacific region expanded by 17.6 percent, and the growth rate in the Americas was 3.0 percent.

“We seamlessly built on the 2013 record figures in January and are taking this momentum into the new year,” said Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. “Our goal is to continue our growth in 2014 and develop more strongly than the worldwide overall car market.”
In January, the premium manufacturer’s compact-class models again enjoyed a very positive trend in demand: The A3 family grew by 67.2 percent worldwide to around 17,450 units at the start of the year, the Q3 by 72.6 percent to around 15,000 units. Meanwhile, also deliveries of Audi’s full-size models increased: a plus of more than 11 percent. The fastest-growing of these models was the Q7. Its sales climbed by 40.8 percent in the first month of the year.

At the start of this year, the Q7 strengthened Audi’s business in China, too: 75 per-cent more customers than in the same month of 2013 decided to buy this full-size SUV. Also the smallest SUV in the Audi portfolio once again proved very popular. Around 6,000 customers in China received the keys to their new Q3. Across all model lines, AUDI AG delivered a total of about 44,526 cars in China, an increase of 18.2 percent compared to January 2013.

In the United States, the Q3 will make its debut at the dealerships in the third quarter; the other Audi Q models have already long been firm favorites with U.S. customers: In January, the Q5 and Q7 accounted for 40 percent of Audi’s deliveries. Despite the extreme weather conditions gripping the United States in the first weeks of January, Audi slightly exceeded its record-breaking start to the previous year: Last month, the company sold a total of 10,101 cars in the United States (+0.4 percent). Audi’s growth in the Americas in January was also fostered by its performance in South America, where deliveries were up 11.3 percent. The highest-growth market here was Brazil, where sales more than doubled compared with the same month last year.

Wow Mercedes is outpacing Audi in nearly every Market except Europe. Audi's China increase of 18.2% compared to Mercedes 44.9% increase is very telling.

Benz leads Audi in the U.S by 12,000 units, and Audi leads Benz globally by 15,000 units

Should be an exciting year for both.

Yes, but Mercedes still has a ways to go to catch up to Audi in China, despite their tremendous growth already in 2014. Alot of the changes Mercedes has made to marketing and dealer networks in 2013 should pay off big this year.

But kudos to Audi for its continual global growth. Will be interesting to see what BMW reports for their January global numbers.

Of course, but with nearly 50% sales growth in China and a healthy lead in the U.S, not to mention the launch of their bread & butter C Class Sedan approaching, Benz is making all the right moves.

While Benz made a tremendous increase in the Chinese market they were struggling in, Audi only managed a 0.4% increase in the U.S, a market they are currently behind Benz, BMW, Lexus, & Cadillac with Infiniti close behind

The A3 should give em a boost but again, time will only tell

You should start to see Audi's U.S. and global sales figures rise significantly starting in June of this year. The A3 sedan will be on sale in the U.S. and China in May. The Q3 SUV will be on-sale in the U.S. in August or September. The Q3 is pretty much a smaller version of the Q5 SUV, which is Audi's best-selling vehicle in the U.S.

And I'm still loving my Audi A6er and the fine craftsmanship and quality interior with this product.
