Love this model and compact size - finally, a luxury crossover to give the X3 a run for its money, and better looking than the GLK. Why I like it:

1. For people whose hips and knees do not like to squat down to 911/M3/SL height cars; very difficult for older people to drop in and out of.

2. So these same people want a taller sports car, but not as "big" as an X5, ML or Cayenne. These are well to do empty-nesters who want something fun to drive but easy to park and can carry occasional passengers when needed. Without "little kids", they really don't need a full sized cross over, but still enjoy the extra height and clearance of a practical road going car, that includes rear hatch loading and unloading at reasonable heights.

3. And thank heavens may come in a diesel!

For the same price as a MB E350 Wagon or BMW 5GT, you're getting a "practical" sports car that is more flexible than a typical sedan. No, I don't expect these to sell like hotcakes because $60K-$80K is a lot of money, but there is a market for it when people are looking for something as sporty as an X3 but a bit more upmarket.

Only a matter of time before the beancounters cancel the Boxster/Cayman, in favor of flooding their production lines with these instead.
