Subaru to dump 'Big Hole' grill on future vehicles
It's been described in other ways as well but we're just thankful it's going bye-bye.

The Japanese brand's controversial aircraft-inspired grilles, as featured on the Impreza and Tribeca, will disappear from the radar. Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, chose to use the propeller corporate face on the current model as a pointer to its aeronautical history.

But Subaru spokesman David Rowley concedes the new face, introduced to Impreza last September, has had mixed reviews, even though sales have not declined.

I like the grill on the new WRX actually, it's just the Tribeca that is looks bad on. In fact, the Tribeca in general is one of the most hideous cars that I have ever laid eyes on.

The audi grill is quite nice looking, I like it a lot. It shows and represents a feeling of power while still keeping an understated and sleeper look of the car.

I would agree with you logical if Audi's sales were down "because of the nose design".

But they aren't and people don't seem to mind.

Back to the subject in hand....the Tribeca has a good idea but like many other models that come out of the ugly department, it will take another redesign or two to really make a strong impact on the market. Sometimes companies just have to put out an ugly car because at that time it's the best their artists could come up with.

Actually that grill on the Subi reminded me of a $20 hooker for some reason.

Subaru make the cars that remind me the most of Pokemon with Lexus running in second.

I never realized what that grill was supposed to be. It is ugly as hell. Subaru should use the Legacy as a model for styling on all their vehicles.

I think this is a wise move, and Audi should do the same.

The A8 looks better IMO in 2004 guise without the massive grille. It just doesnt look elegant or sporty.

The Q7 has the most ridiculously sized grille ever. It has way too many layers.

This cant go on much longer if Audi wants to continue to improve sales.

Yeah, lets ditch all the big grilles!

I loved it when all cars looked the same and designers weren't allowed to try new and exciting things because consumers got all scared and demanded their cars have invisibility powers.

Chip

Too bad the BMW 3 series designers basically copied Audi Shiled/Waterfall/whatever you call it grill.

Yup, the Audi grill should go too. In a word, it looks.. . vulgar. Yes, vulgar.

Surbaru has never been known for it's styling. I see nothing has changed.
