SPIED: Porsche's All-New 911 (991) Targa Is Spotted IN THE WILD For The FIRST Time
Only yesterday I posted images of the Lexus RC350 in SoCal sporting a GREAT blue paintjob. It was the first time we've seen the vehicle outside of an auto show. It's a big deal.

Just like that incident, new video was sent to us via our friend Toldi who ran into the all-new Porsche 911 (991) Targa hanging out in Stuttgart, which is the home city of the P Car.

Though we've photographed the all-new Targa extensively — proof below — we always value pictures and video of the vehicles outside of the show environment. This is, after all, more important than seeing the vehicle perfectly lit and displayed on a turn table.

That said, check out the video and our amazing shots from the 2014 Detroit Auto Show below!

A real looker. And no silly square or shaped exhaust outlets! Just fat, round, and ready for business. Way to go, Porsche.

I love the look of the old 3.2 targas - thee roofline is almost as iconic as the 911 itself. BUT---I'm not a fan of the 991 targa. Targa's used to be valid when convertibles compromised rigidity and - MOST importantly were loud and not completely weather proof. The 991 convertible is effectively a hardtop (magnesium panels under the cloth to form a metal shell when the roof is up. You can't knife the top. It's so quiet and a free of compromises (glass heated rear window) that the hardtop for winter doesn't come with the convertible anymore like it did with 996 etc.. The new targa is a bastardized convertible. I suspect only nostalgia will generate interest in this car. Anyone who has driven a 991 will likely acknowledge it is now a proper civilized and modern road car, not the former air cooled weekend runabout that the 911 was when the Targa made sense.

Just my 2 cents... DRP

Clearly this Targa is all about appearances and style. Any arguments for practicality will fall on deaf ears.
