First Look - Fiat Prepares All New 500 For 2016 Release

Fiat is preparing to follow in MINI’s footsteps by reinventing the famous Fiat 500 for a second time. An all-new model – revealed in our exclusive images – is due on sale in 2016,

While the cute retro styling will be given a subtle evolution, the interior will undergo a much more dramatic transformation, with a large central touchscreen to replace buttons.

To help boost the appeal of the 500 in the US – its biggest global market – the newcomer will be wider and longer than at present, which will improve interior space and stretch the proportions for a sportier profile.

Before it just looked like a potato...now it looks like an organic potato.

If that's accurate, it's a home run. Can't wait to see the Abarth. The Fiat 500 is a nifty little car and apparently owners quite love them. Making a 4 door Dodge Omni version would be a good move as well.

I see the Chrysler influence on the inside... Not feeling the renderings above but I don't like the look of the new 500 anyway... The crash test ratings have been horrendous too, so would never recommend a friend of family look at one, would recommend they run far far away and run to a MINI dealer.

A comparable Mini will be a minimum of $5K more.

Carcrazed you really don't know what you are talking about. The 2012 Fiat 500 was an IIHS top safety pick and now the same car all of a sudden is not. Ask yourself why? Well this offset crash test is new and most cars regardless of size or manufacturer have failed it. I'm sure the mini that you would recommend would fail horribly also.

sounds like you need to do some more fact checking smallnwicked, sorry bro... Fiat is still garbage: "Most minicars fail new crash test; Fiat 500, Honda Fit worst" : http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2014-01-22/marketplace/sns-rt-us-autos-safety-minicars-20140121_1_iihs-small-overlap-crash-fiat-500
