VW, please bring this to the US.

VW: leave this mess in Europe. All this is, is a bloated, uglier version of a GTI and is not a "Scirocco"...by the way the projected base price of the Scirocco should it come to the USA would be $35K (when it needs to be $25K) and would easily hit $45K loaded. It's a terribly wrong car for our market. A reinvented Scirocco that mirrors the BRZ is the better ticket. When dealers were polled, the majority did not want it.

Of course VW dealers didn't want it. They want to be Honda/Toyota where niche products aren't en vogue. The reality is that niche products helps draw customers into showrooms and generates interest in the brand. At this point, VW needs all the help it can get from anywhere to boost their US sales.

And no, VW doesn't need a POS like the BRZ/FR-S. The Scirocco and Corrado were based on the Golf/Jetta platforms, so how is this current one any different. Yes, the styling is probably more hatchback than fastback/sports car, but it still looks a helluva lot better than the Golf, IMO.

Doesn't VW realize that giving the Scirocco a facelift is not their bigger problem?

VW had 3 of the 10 highest-selling cars worldwide in 2013. And was the #3 automaker globally. Not sure that they have a "bigger problem" that needs to be fixed, at least not outside the US.

It needs four doors. Call it the Jetta CC.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The GTI is nothing more than a box with "Origamy" styling to it.It is not attractive in my eyes and it never will be.VW sales in the US are stagnating. Why is this the case. Is it just a reliability issue? Or is it more of a styling issue? Or is it both? One other thing. In spite of the Passat and Jetta and Golf being built in Chatanooga and Puebla where are it's SUV's built. Wolfsburg. Thats a no no if you are to remain competative. For America VW needs one SUV that is both bigger and cheaper. The other SUV should be cheaper than what is currently on the market. Styling-VW's have that austere styling that was popular in the 70's and 80's.BMW 2002 and original 3 series come to mind. But those models have moved on and evolved while VW styling has not. With all the competion from such cars as the Focus, Fusion, Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, Hyundai Sonata, and Ki Optima the VWs seem conservative and outdated.VAG is certainly capable of making attractive cars. Take a look at Seat. All Seat's are are rebodied Golfs, Jetta, and Passat.Aggressive latin styling that at least has some passion to it.The Cupra 4dr and 2Dr. are particularly fetching to look at in my eyes.Compare to Jetta VW's mainstream products are a yawn to look at. However the VW Scircco is very interesting in it's styling. Yes it is a hatchback. But it is sleek and agressive with big rear hips and aggressive styling. You almost think it does not belong to the rest of VW's lineup. The GTI looks dowdy in comparison. The new Beetle works. VW just needs to graphed on a better suspension system. The new Scirocco needs 2 drs. thank you.

@ cidflekken: Yes, I was looking at it only from the U.S. perspective, where I live, so sorry if I left the rest of the world out. But case in point is that VWs in the U.S. brake down and spend awful lots of time at the dealer for repairs. From brakes to electric problems, to lights that burnt a few weeks after the car leaves the showroom. In addition (and again, this is just about the U.S) the VW lineup looks dated and none of their cars can compete with the Japs or even the Koreans. A Passat with 170HP can't be more expensive than an Altima with 190, just to give you an example.
