Can YOU Name Cars That Just AREN'T Worth The Price Of Admission?
In the automotive landscape there are cars that are winners, then there are losers. Aside from that there's a whole lot of other factors to consider when purchasing a new set of wheels. What's the mpg? How's it price out when you try to insure the damn thing? How about annual upkeep? Tires? Depreciation?

When you take into consideration a vehicle's total cost of ownership, well, it's another ballgame altogether.

Sure, right now there's a lot of love for the Tesla Model S but the depreciation costs are completely uncertain, to say the least. Then there's vehicles like the last-gen Maserati Quattroporte that suffered such severe depreciation you have to wonder if it's worth buying one at all.

So, we wanted to turn to the AutoSpies faithful and see if there were any vehicles that they specifically believe are NOT worth the price of admission. Let me see if I can give you some examples that may get you all rollin'...

- Extremely high performance autos — Nissan GT-R, Mercedes-Benz E63 S-model AMG — while they're a ton of fun if you're only driving them on the road you'll be using the brake pedal much more than the throttle. In addition, with potent models like BMW's 550i that makes over 440 horses, do I really need a 560 horsepower M5?

- Poor resale value — Anything up to this point that's a Maserati gets clobbered in the used market, same goes for any Mercedes-Benz AMG.

Weigh in below and let us know what you think: can YOU name cars that aren't worth the price of admission?

Equus, does give you a good amount of bang for your buck, but I'd say the Lexus ES, GX, and LX, which can all be had for much less via the Camry, 4 Runner, and Land Cruiser...just check the boxes for leather/wood and oyur all set

That's right! The ELR makes the Volt look like the bargain that it is :)

$40,000 BMW 4cylinder any things. Sorry guys I just don't see spending 40 - 50 thousand bucks on sedan that small with a 4... Even if it is turbocharged.

FWD too. They should have stuck with the Mini on the 4-cylinder FWD cars.

I wouldn't buy a CLA either. I'm a grown man...

Anyone with a brain leases German premium. NONE of them are worth owning because once the short warranty is over, they become money pits.

That is probably true for all premium vehicles. After three years or so they cease to be "premium" anyway so why bother owning them?

Not entirely true if you buy pre-owned and a longer warranty. When I bought my 2012 X5 last year, it was FULLY loaded, i.e. every option incl. Nappa leather everywhere and had only 4k miles on it....for $42k. I also have an extended warranty that covers it until 2019. Sticker was originally $69k for a mint, slightly used vehicle. I plan on keeping it for 8-10 years and can't honestly imagine those 2 years out of warranty really costing me a good $25k of savings off new. but YMMV....

Nissan Leaf,

Appraied on last week, a 13 with 6500 miles, bid ranged for $14k to $18k off $35k MSRP, no Nissan dealer was interested in it. Yes in know about the the tax credit but still 48% - 60% depreciation, dismal.

2008' GL 450 (tows the track car)
2013 X6 3.5i perf. pack
1 other little car from zuffenhausen with a 7 spd manual

why would anyone buy a Cadillac XTS built on the same body as the Chevy Impala with is about 20,000 less, unless one wants the Caddy crest. And as for the Ford Fusion vs the Lincoln MKZ. And on top of the price difference why would anyone pay 45,000 to 50,000 for a Lincoln made in Mexico ?
