Hyundai Readies Blitz Of New Models - Who Needs To Be Worried?

Hyundai will launch 22 new models in Europe between now and 2017, as part of a renewed model offensive that began with the new i10 last month.

The plans include both a new i20 and a right-hand-drive version of the £35,000 Genesis executive saloon, set to arrive later this year.

Hyundai, which this week passed an all-time total of 6.0 million cars sold in Europe, has improved its market share from 1.8 per cent in 2008 to 3.5 per cent last year, and aims to take an even five per cent of European car sales by 2020.

Based on the steady drum beat of war-threat by 009 over the last 2 years, I think MB, BMW, Audi, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari should all be worried about this onslaught of Hyundai's greatness :-) Just giving you a hard time 009.

I would say BMW and Mercedes should be concerned with Hyundai going upmarket and likely creating a luxury brand. With the Equus (and even Kia's K900), the 7-series better watch out as folks will find other ways to spend the $20,000 premium that BMW charges. Of course, there will always be some who want to own a BMW or Mercedes just for the perceived name brand prestige.

Hyundai will exceed expectations. That is how they play the game. The automotive bigots will continue to spew their idiotic diatribes against Korean cars, but THAT is why they slag Hyundai.

When I was in Toronto, it didn't look like any Canadians at the autoshow gave a flying flip about the new Hyundai/KIAs.
