First BMW M4 Coupe Rolls Off Assembly Line In Munich
The first F82 BMW M4 Coupe has rolled off the production line in Munich wearing an Austin Yellow paint job. To mark the occasion, BMW presented the car to DTM racing driver Martin Tomczyk and the plant’s Managing Director Hermann Bohrer. Each M4 takes 40 hours to make, with the installation of the carbon-fiber roof finished by hand.

The all-new 3.0-liter six-cylinder develops 431 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, and is 10 kg lighter than the V8 in its predecessor. The M4 Coupe will be priced from $64,200 when it goes on sale in the summer alongside the $62,000 M3 Sedan.

$64,200 base. Add $15,000 to get rid of the hub caps.

Hell of a value for the car. Compare it to the Competition :

AUDI RS5 Base is $69,700
Mercedes C63 is $65,375
Cadillac CST-V is $64,900

M4 is larger, faster and oddly enough a much better Value. Plus BMW includes Full Maintenance on a performance car which offers $3k to $4k in savings ...

Why does larger make it better as a sports car?

If you want a better sports car for less money:
-Porsche Cayman S - $63,800
-Porsche Boxster S - $62,100
-Corvette Stingray Coupe - $51,000

These are all faster with better handling than the M4.

Lacks AWD? None of the cars can be driven in the snow unless you change out the tires.

Terry ... The 0 to 60 on the M4 is 3.9 seconds, which actually means around 3.5 to 3.6.

Cayman s is 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds ... different and smaller car. Also with destination the price is $64,795 & justifies the point of the M4 being a tremendous value.

Boxster S is 0 to 60 in 4.7 to 4.8 seconds at $63,010. Again slower than the M4 in every category.

Corvette Stingray Coupe from a performance aspect is the closest in a str8 line and yet i guess we will have to see how it matches up in road handling.

does anyone do any reading before posting ridiculous and unfactual comments?

Then on top of all that BMW is picking up the Maintenance for 4 years or 50,000 miles on the car and includes brake pads & rotors ( which on all the above mentioned cars will set one back anywhere from $2,000 to $3,000 depending on the car ), Inspections, Oil Changes, Brake fluid flush ...

BMWm4 - - - You obviously don't understand what a sports car is. 0-60 times are not the be all performance indicator. A you say yourself, the Corvette is faster in a straight line, meaning you understand this concept. A sports car is defined by how it goes around the corners, not the drag strip. In the last few years, BMWs have gotten must faster in a straight line at the expense of cornering and road feel. On the ring (and just about any track) the Cayman S, Boxster S and Corvette all hammered the E92. We have yet to see how this one tames the green hell, but BMWs have not been good ring performers. If 0-60 is the only performance indicator you understand, then the Camaro ZL1($55,355)or Shelby 500 Mustang ($54,650) are the cars to go with since they cost less (even with maintenance factored in), and yet crank out better performance numbers than the M4.

Terry ... How do you figure that I don't understand? Now you were bringing into the equation a Cayman S ( which is not a direct competitor to the New M4, nor is the Boxster S or the Corevette) yet you bring them up as being faster than the M4. What does faster mean to you, as you didn't define the parameters in your arguement, so I answered you in the simpliest of terms in the 0 to 60 parameters in which the M4 is ALOT quicker.

Now if you factor in track times, then the E92 M3 posted a quicker lap time than the Boxster S ( and that M3 is almost a second slower to 60 mph and weighs about 170 lbs more ). The latest Cayman s performed about the same as the last generation E92 M3 Competition package ....

In regards to the Camaro ZL1 and the Shelby Mustang, are you saying they are a better car than the Porsche? SMH .... Anyways, let me know when and what your arguement is in regards to the Porsche Cayman & Boxster in relevance to the New M4. Cause the New M4 is a heck of a Value for the Performance, Heritage, Style and driveability of it .... Can't wait to actually drive one .......

Let's see some actual performance numbers from outside of BMW before we make this car the second coming.

Seeing this car only makes me want to know more about the M3 and M2.

There is no way that the M3 or M4 will be sub 4 sec from 0 to 60 unless after market.

MeatyHelmet, I don't know why you bothered with the photo....it's not exactly easy on the eyes! As for your cynical comments, the joke is on you. The M4 will be very successful because it satisfies the market's needs for a sporting coupé.
