With Mercedes-Benz's new CLA and brand new S-class already on sale and the new C-class and GLA right around the corner, it looks like BMW has no chance to overtake Mercedes-Benz for title of best-selling luxury brand in the U.S. for 2014.

Not neccessarily true as the New X5 is still slow on production. None of the dealers in the US have any inventory, New 4-series convertible not yet arrived, 2-series just starting to come out, plus the New X3 in April will have a Diesel engine ...

The S and E Class continue to dominate the competition, with the Current C Class still maintaining a solid second behind the 3 series.

I'm surprised to see the older and somewhat duller M Class outsell the New X5 for Feb too. The X5 has always been strong.

@BMWm4, all true but lets not forget, the CLA is also relatively low on production and the 4 matic version is still on its way, along with a new C and all new GLA

car ... the New X5 isnt really out. Production is at 1/3 of the output required for the demand. MOst dealers in the US still dont have any inventory. The M-class is still basically selling against the the old X5

Car.. The S-class is brand new ... Where as the BMW 7-series is still selling well even though it is 6 years old. Heck still outsells the New A8 and Lexus

And no one is knocking the 7 but the same case could be made for the E(best seller)and C(second only to the 3)

I wish 001 wouldn't let GermanNut post articles regarding BMW. I can tolerate the pro-Audi BS in the Audi threads. But ANOTHER headline where GermanNut can't resist taking a dig at BMW. I beginning to suspect that GermanNut maybe insecure about his beloved brand.

As for the numbers, seem reasonable. I prefer the global numbers. It paints the full picture.

Taking a dig at BMW? More like it's true that BMW lost more ground to Mercedes-Benz in February and given how close the sales figures are, it's important to show the relationship between the two brands.

Where is the relationship to Audi? As for the overall worldwide race that is where AUdi should be worried as it looks like Mercedes will pass them for Number 2

I'm sure that's what you believe, but the 'news' article relates to BMW's figures, there is no need to mention another brand when you are basically just posting a press release - you can't but resist tainting it with your bias.

How's about this. If you want to put your own 'perspective' on sales numbers, why don't you just post up a separate article containing your 'analysis' of the three marques figures?

..not that you would do that without any bias. Rampant pro-Audi spin all the way!

It's the relationship between BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the U.S. that is of importance, which is what the headline mentions.

Globally, it's the relationship with BMW and Audi for now (with Mercedes-Benz possibly making itself a part of the conversation if it continues to catch up with BMW and Audi in coming months).

DTMFan, you and BMWm4 are obviously misreading the headline. There is no mention of Audi anywhere in the headline. The headline compares BMW and Mercedes-Benz only. I feel it is very important to state the relationship between BMW and Mercedes-Benz because the numbers are so close and we know the two brands go to great lengths to win the U.S. sales race.

U.S. executives of BMW and Mercedes-Benz mention their brand's sales figures in relation to one another and it is very important that Autospies readers be kept aware of the changes and relationship between the sales figures.

Still much better than Audi's figures.

Yes, in the U.S. Firewombat but lets see how the global numbers turn out. Audi was ahead of BMW heading into February on a global basis.

Your "article" was about US sales, keep it relevant and try not to sound so insecure, you have no right to be

More like I like to look at the total picture instead of isolated markets. You might want to try that sometime.

Well then write an article about that sometime, your post is still irrelevant. Although it does show how insecure you are about your Audi obsession.
