First Official Photos Of Jeep Renegade Break WIDE OPEN!

First Official Photos Of Jeep Renegade Break WIDE OPEN!

We have been telling you for a while that a Fiat 500 based Jeep was on the horizon and now here are the first official shots of the Jeep Renegade.

Developed alongside the Fiat 500X crossover, and sharing its underpinnings with that model, the  Renegade is expected to go on sale in 2015. The new model was previously thought to use the Jeepster name, but Fiat-Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne nixed that idea.

The new model gets a traditional Jeep front end, also features boxy, SUV-like proportions and large, square tail lights.

Take a look and let us know if this is going to be accepted as a true Jeep!

A special thanks to Jim Holder over at AutoCar for the heads up.

Jeep is headed in a very bad direction. If they're going to offer this then they need to nix the Compass and Patriot. They have way too many SUV's delivering on the same promise of crawling malls with increasingly extraordinary mediocrity. The design details are nice, esp. inside, albeit they scream of Dodge Dart style and quality (shudder). And at least the outside doesn't look like a Kia (like the Cherokee)....unfortunately it looks like a Fiat-Nissan Cube with nicer tail lights.

On the plus side it has round headlights.

The Patriot and Compass are going bye bye. And you couldn't be more incorrect about Jeep; did you see their Feb sales? The Cherokee is selling extremely well. The renegade will probably sell even better. Want to post some articles on the quality or lack their of on the dart that you speak of? I know people who have them, and there aren't any quality issues to speak of.

A this rate, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will represent a short lived peak in the design of Jeeps in the post-bankruptcy Chrysler era. Jeep really hit its stride with the Grand Cherokee, which makes it all the more dissappointing how horribly the Cherokee, and now this thing, came out.

On the positives for the Renegade, it looks like more of a Jeep than the new Cherokee, which looks like a wedge from the front and way too curvy everywhere else. At least this design is a bit more boxy and incorporates a front facia with classic design cues. The wheels/tires look too small though and the overall appearance is immature.

It'll sell, even though it's really, really ugly. Cheap, kind of quirky. It'll appeal to younger adults who want a lower-quality, worse-driving, less safe and somehow uglier alternative to a Subaru.

I really like this and it will improve sales globally which will help Chrysler survive. They are giving the market what it wants.

I looks funny to me. If it is even close to the 500 in size it will be really laughable on the road. If it is priced <20k, it could sell okay.

The same kind of dummies who buy the Nissan Juke
will buy this thing.
